Anthony has a better combination of inside/outside scoring ability. He is a very good low post, isolation, and outside scorer.
he's not a better combination of those things than Lebron, no chance. Lebron doesn't take as many shots, but that doesn't mean he's isn't as good a scorer.

I honestly just don't know what people mean when they say great scorer.

You're joking right? Feel free to tell me where I'm wrong.

Lebron shoots a higher percentage from outside and inside than Carmelo, no?

So, which parts makes Carmelo better? Volume?

Like I said, define scorer.

I'm just wondering how Lebron made it to this thread...

Touche.

That being said, I should have quoted something different from the OP, where in that post he did say Carmelo was not just a better scorer than Durant, but the best scorer in the league. Once you say that, IMO, you open up the thread to discussin more than just those 2 players lol.

But I'll take the blame for this one, it's on me.

The rest of the playoffs will answer the Carmelo vs Durant question. Durant will be forced to take more shots, and those shots will be harder to come by, because he won't have the luxury of having RW on the court with him. He probably won't struggle against Houston, but the next round will show us what KD is made of.

So real question, does Melo's body type have anything to do with him being less talked about? He always looks a little chunky.

I think a big reason he doesn't get respect as a player is because of his demeanor and attitude. He doesn't fit that "friendly negro" image that some people associate with KD.

KD is one of the most liked superstars since probably Shaq. Definitely my favorite. Love watching him play. Now that Westbrook is out, it's going to be interesting to see how he turns it up for the remainder of the Playoffs

Half the game is played on the defensive end, so to summarrily dismiss that is short-sighted.

I don't know that Durant is a great defender, but certainly better than Melo.

So even if you say they are eqauls offensively (which I don't, I still give Durant a slight advantage for overall offensive play) Durant for me takes the overall not comfortably because defensively Melo is all too often disinterested.

You can't really base the KD-Melo comparison off of one season's playoffs, though. KD plays in, by far, the tougher conference and he has already made the conference finals twice to Melo's one.

Another thing people tend to overlook about KD's game is how much better he has gotten at passing the ball. In 2 seasons he has improved his assist numbers by about 3 per game and routinely has 7-8 assist games. Melo doesn't do that.

I don't think its a stretch to say that KD has played on better teams than Melo has. That's why I said It will be interesting to see how KD performs without Westbrook, or Harden this year. He will basically be in the same position that Melo is in with the Knicks

Stats have to be taken in context. Who was guarding Melo, who was guarding Durant, and in Durant's case who was guarding Westbrook? How many points did Westbrook score that game? Who was injured?
