calling it incompatible is a misnomer. There's an explanation on that in my guide if you're interested.

A 780 is just $100 more on EVGA's Bstock. You will have one hell of a time pushing frames at 1440 on a 770.

Edt: GTX 780 - $419

770 review
The 770 does better than people give it credit for at 1440. Going forward you may want more than 2gb of ram but judging on previous gen games it is great. And since there are no next gen games ever apparently it shouldn't be an issue

I'm not dogging the 770, the GK104-400 is a great chip. I have owner not and gamed at 1440 on both, he will want a 780 if not SL'ing.

I agree about the 780, my point is just that you can game at 1440 with a 770. You just have to lower some settings from time to time which is always painful to do. That's why i want a 770 for 1080

Since I've been mining, most of my gaming has been on a single 7970 (GHz) at 1440p (it trades blows pretty well with the 770) . For the newer games, you essentially have to run everything on high (not ultra) and use FXAA to get 60fps. For shittily coded games, you'll probably have to turn off/down a few other little eyecandy features.

Yeah, but for just $100 more you get 72% the performance of 2x680/770s in SLi.

Not only that, for games which are terribly optimized for SLi or do not have an SLi profile yet, you will be set with a single card solution.

Yes you can run 1440 @ Ultra w/ eye candy off, but there will be the bad coding and AAA titles where the GK104-400 compared to the GK110-300 will get shtt on.

If you are spending the money on a display, spend the money on the GPU. It is just $100 more.

Okay, going with the 780. Sorry about all the questions, never done this before (obviously) and I'm pretty tight with money, not cheap, just tight. Will be the biggest purchase I've ever made.

Yep, got it.

Pretty excited about this, I haven't had anything other than a work computer since high school. Freaking grad school.

What does "dual classified" mean? EVGA put up several more B stock cards, there's a 780 that is faster than the one LSUCoyote linked and is "dual classified" for 30 bucks more. Worth it? LINK

NVidia is taking so much of the PC gaming market share right now, and there's an even greater chance of brand loyalty from the newbies because they'll end up doing SLI later, and people tend to stick with the brands they're familiar with anyway.
