Who trusts the government?

This is the American Government right? They can be trusted, right?

The interesting thing is we see people saying that certain powers are ok now because Obama is in power. They would have never wanted Bushie to have those powers.

However, one needs to understand that once you give the government powers, they do not give them up. Hence every president will have those powers now.

So I guess if you trust the government, and not this administration, I guess you have no problem with drone strikes and the excessive secrecy we see in the government today. But even if you do trust this administration(I understand few to none do), and not trust government in general, than you should be against these things.

So who trusts the government?

re: Who trusts the government?

From what I have seen in the past few years, the US government is basically a conglomerate which bureaus pursue their own interests without the need to be congruent with the policy verbiage coming out the white house. To say the "government" may be short sighted because I don't think the fundamental connection the average person believes is there is one that really exists.

I do not, under any circumstance, trust the American government.

Power corrupts. It always has.

I don't even trust them for this. They would sell them out if needed.

That's a pretty wide brush kind of question. I'm assuming that you're talking about the Federal Government. And in that case I would expect no one (other than a real fool) to say yes.

Yes, and the inverse is true. People who loudly proclaimed that President Bush wielding Patriot Act powers were fine, and you shouldn't care "as long as you aren't doing anything wrong", are now flippin' their shite because Obama is at the wheel.

I was against it with Bush, and I'm against it with Obama.

Honestly why would it matter what type of government? I wouldn't trust any government, local, state or federal.

The local elections are easier to fix. A bit of money could go a long way and that could get your real estate project favorable legislation...

Sorry. I don't trust any of them.
