I had the pleasure of having dinner at Coquette for the first time last night. It was nothing short of amazing!

The atmosphere is warm and beautiful. I highly recommend it for a nice date night. I probably wouldn't go there for a first date (take note Neauxla), but for a 4th or later, it would be perfect.

My date and I are both foodies, so we decided to go with the Blind Tasting. It's pricey at $70, but I felt it was well worth it for the amount and quality of food and the creativity of the dishes.

We had 7 courses. The highlights were the chicken fried sweetbreads with celery, fennel and hot sauce which had me literally moaning with every bite and also the seared sea scallops with pork belly, beet jam and marinated kale.

Other courses included a market vegetable salad, butternut squash cavatelli and beef cheeks over stone ground oatmeal. Again, everything was great and I especially loved how their menu changes daily based on what they can get fresh, with a focus on buying local.

The only course that didn't wow me was dessert. I don't even have a clear memory what it was. I think it was a kind of ice cream and it was topped with little Lucky Charms shaped merinque pieces. It wasn't bad, but just an o.k. end to what was one of the best meals I've had in a very long time.

The service was very attentive without being overly so. The timing between courses was perfect. The owner came out and chatted with us for a good while. I was impressed that when I was talking about how much I loved the sweetbreads, in true Macy's Santa Clause fashion he said..."You want to know where to get the best sweetbreads?", then at the same time we both proclaimed..."La Boca!!"

Although such an amazing night out isn't something one can do regularly, I'm really looking forward to trying it soon for both lunch and their happy hour specials!

Would agree with that. Did you sit upstairs or down?

Wow they had the best of the best on the tasting menu last night. All of those are fantastic.

Their service is perfect, IMO. Its exactly how I like fine dining service done. No frills, attentive yet not over-bearing. Time the courses right, never leave someone with an empty glass.. just really on point.

Just curious as to why you think that?

The blind taster sounds like a majority of their greatest hits.

Glad you enjoyed! One of my favorites.

It's been my favorite stop in Nola for the last few years. I have a hard time talking myself out of trying something new.

I think it isn't a good first date spot because it's a little foodie, and it's fairly quaint. I don't think a first date should be any more than casual.

Only been once, but I loved it as well.

Sat upstairs next to an open window on a sunny/breezy Sunday morning (kinda like the weather has been lately) and it was awesome.
