Why are police writing traffic reports on private property? IME, this is not the norm.

Agreed, my car was hit in Chalmette and the parish cops told me there's nothing they can do because it happened on private property.

A similar situation happened to a friend in a different state with the same outcome.

re: Traffic accident question

Ive been suggesting this for a while now. Suspend users that only start thread and dont participate in the discussion especially if they are asking for advice or a question.

re: Traffic accident question

quote:

The police report should state what kind of damage was observed on the pump. If it states that there is no damage to the pump, then your "friend" is good to go. It would be hard to prove that your "friend" did that damage after the fact if the police report states that there was no damage to the pump that jumped out in front of your observant "friend".

I used to handle these types of situations all the time for State Farm. The police report carries tremendous weight.

id imagine short of reporting the damage very quickly and having video of the pump not being damaged by other means it would be very tough to pin it on the accident
