I highly recommend the D'Orsay.

Its for me the better of the two museums (for Paintings, but the Louvre has some other REALLY cool stuff), and is one of the better museums in the world. All of the impressionists, its a large museum but you get up close to Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, etc etc.

Really wonderful museum.

The Rodin sculpture museum is also cool

It is if you want to get a closeup centered view of it.

I wouldn’t. It’s not the real one. Everyone knows the real one is in the den of Carmine Sabbatini.

I went in February and it really didn’t take long to see it, but then again, I’m guessing it’s mostly the offseason.

The “line” is one of the dumbest fricking designs I’ve ever seen. It’s basically a V shape funneling down to the painting.

I didn’t and won’t. Had a chance to see it and turned it down. If it was next door and I could just walk in look for a second and leave sure. But actually putting effort into it? No, I acknowledge that it is a historical piece of art it just doesn’t interest me.

It’s not as big as you expect. But it’s amazing

Interesting. We just did the Vatican museum Sistine chapel over spring break and I agree it's amazing - just in sheer quantity of work and then my wife explaining the exactness needed for frescos, but I always pictured the Sistine chapel as being smaller, more quaint maybe because I really only see the God/ Adam painting and think that's it but it's bigger(to me) with a lot more than just that. Also I thought the Vatican was packed that day, because it was wall to wall people but our guide made a comment about how light the crowd was because it only took 20 min to get through one section

It's been 30 years since I went to the Louvre, but I just walked right up to it, with no waiting at all. I understand the historical significance on the Mona Lisa, but frankly, there are much more interesting works of art in other wings of the Louvre.

It’s not that impressive. It’s smaller than you think and behind protective glass. It’s pretty meh to be honest.

No longer than it takes to walk past it and take a quick glance

I don’t give a shite about art or really understand the excitement of it for people to stand in line to see a painting I can view on a google image search. It’s a quality painting of a homely woman. Whoop de doo

Saw the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, definitely didn't stand in a long line, maybe like 15-20 minutes or so. It's not that impressive either

I was more impressed with the Dutch masters paintings. The sheer scale and detail of the paintings is wild to see in person.

Yes, The Night Watch was much more impressive than the Mona Lisa, IMO.

Went to Paris for Mardi Gras last February. We were one of the first people in line. My wife knew to run straight to it then come back and see the rest of the Louvre. When we got there, there may have been 30 people in the room. Passed back by later in the day and there was no less than 500 people waiting to see it.

I had no idea how big the statue of David was before going to Florence.
