The Saints select an offensive lineman. I hope that didn't kill any suspense

NFL Draft story that shaped up the NFL today:

- The #Chiefs were picking at No. 28 in 2016 and had interest in Memphis QB Paxton Lynch; however, the #Broncos traded up to 26 and got him.

- Denver gave up picks 31 and 94 to do the trade.

- The #Chiefs would've had an extra 3rd-round pick (No. 91) to offer in a trade-up for Lynch, but the NFL took it away for tampering in free agency with Jeremy Maclin.

- Lynch’s agent confirmed the next day that the Chiefs and Cowboys were the other two teams trying to move up.

- As a result, KC then traded out of No. 28 and down to No. 37. With that pick, the #Chiefs selected DT Chris Jones.

- The next year, still looking for a QB, the #Chiefs traded up from No. 27 to No. 10.

- With that pick, they selected Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City went from having interest in Paxton Lynch to ending up with Chris Jones – and a year later Patrick Mahomes.

And the rest has been history ever since.

Just hope they don’t trade up to 5 to pick a guy they could get tomorrow

I don't understand the Bears not trading down. Yes, I realize that requires a trade partner, but I would bet that both Washington and NE would be willing to give up their own pick, a first next year, and more, especially if you played them off each other in negotiations.

It has been proven time and time there are no sure thing at drafting a QB so why not hedge your bet? Trade down and select Daniels or Mayes and you have another first round (likely high) pick next year to go along with your own pick. Look no further than last year to see how well passing on Bryce Young worked out for them.

Why would the pats or WA give up a first to move up? There's 3 QBs available

Because one of them likely has the same bias that the Bears apparently have which is Caleb Williams is a far more likely lock than Mayes or Daniels. Also, never underestimate the stupidity of a team desperate for a franchise QB.

Point being, the #1 is more valuable as a trade commodity than the player you likely draft. At the very least, you win with quantity by having more players on rookies contracts on your roster.

Praying for Malik to the Chargers. Would have a chance to be a top receiver year one.

Saw an ESPN mock draft with Bo Nix in the first round

I will laugh so hard if that happens

A lot of people think Chargers will go OL or trade back (and still go OL).

If they do go o line the cardinals might be able to trade back with the giants and still get Harrison at 6

Well the Cardinals pick at 4, so they wouldn’t know until after.

They’d have to be fine with MHJ or Nabers

NFL Draft notes I’ve gathered after speaking with multiple team sources:

• As many teams expect a flurry of 1st-round trades, sources believe these are the teams who’ve shown the most interest in trading up: Giants, Jets, Vikings Raiders, Colts, Jaguars, Bills, Lions and Eagles. The Commanders could come back up into Round 1 as well

• Chargers still exploring trade-back options

• One GM says he expects as many as 10 OL in the 1st-round

• Indy has done a ton of work on WR, as well as corner. They also really like Brock Bowers

• Denver has tried to move up, but lacks the capital many teams covet. Teams believe they’ll have to go into future resources to trade up
