I don't think Mett is the starter anymore. New play book; they all are in need of improving some aspect of their game. CC can provide that. So, this is any mans race, the way it should be.

Unfortunately not enough. foot work sucks, doesn't move up in the pocket, To Inaccurate when under pressure. Holds ball too long when recivers are covered. Stares down the intended receiver.
Sunshine pumpers have at me.

I don't understand why people think that Rivers is any better than Mett. Coming out of high school he was a project! I don't think he would pick up SEC defenses any better than Mett, have any better footwork, better arm, etc. His throwing motion was terrible just like his brothers.Mett has alot more upside IMO he just needs some better guidance/coaching along the way.He will get some garbage time this yr and get his chance to compete for the starting job next yr so will be see then but no way in hell he starts over a guy that has a full yr under his belt and had pretty good success for a first yr starter. Not happening!!!

Mett would have improved anyhow, IMO, but Cam should be able help his game performance by implementing a better offensive gameplan.

If Cameron can at least make Mett quit throwing the ball 3 ft over the receivers that would be a 100% improvement !!!

All those problems and he still completed almost 60%(not even factoring in drops) of his passes with only 7 interceptions.

He took too many sacks, that much is true. But a fair amount of those were a result of line play.

Nice link, ATLTiger.

Mett has the tools to be a pro-style QB, will improve significantly under Cam, with a better and healthy line, and a better offensive scheme.

Mett will never be a Johnny Football, but I really think this past year was an anomaly--SEC defenses will be sure to contain him (the only way to defend a speedy scrambler)and A&M will find this season to be a little tougher than last year was.

Mett's improvement probably will have more to do with how much work he puts into it rather than what CC does...

All Cam needs to do is give Mett an outlet (running back, tight end, crossing route) to give Mett an option if the Defense sends a blitz. The offense lacked that last year.

CC will give Mett options and include the TE and backs which has been mentioned in the posting. What I noticed about Flacco over the past two seasons is his ability to take what defense gives you and take his shots down the field in particular times. Most importantly when Flacco does pass it is more outside the hash (not over the middle)to reduce interceptions much like McCarron did in both NC games against us and ND. I am not bama obsessed just similar style of play calling.

we could expect dramatic improvement, given that mett has had a whole year of facing SEC speed defense and the fact that he improved. Add in better line play, better receiver play, all of which we can expect, and hopefully, better play calling - could be a great team.

I think that about sums it up. Also though I would expect an open competition in spring camp and if another QB shines brighter, such as maybe Rivers, then no reason he shouldn't get plenty PT early. I'm expecting Mett to be improved and hold down the job but if not it's not like we don't have other options between Rivers, Rettig, and Jennings.

You can't really make Mett quick on his feet, that't not natural to him. What can be improved is his pocket presence and ability to sense the pressure from his blind side. He needs to work on that timer in his head and find his 2nd option quick.

Giving him more options will help. It was a problem last ear and the couple of guys running routes just weren't getting separation very often.

Mett is the QB AND

Landry is a HOSS. He's like Laron Landry or Chad Jones playing WR. See 2:10, 4:40 and 5:40.
