Is Coop's Place or Fiorella's too trendy? Little Gem on S. Rampart is new and may be worth a shot.

Napolean House is pretty good great muffaletta. If you can get a table by the open French doors its great for people watching

essentially he wants where the hipsters eat - somewhere so cool, its uncool. i vote for a lucky dog.

Not sure if I get the meaning of trendy here. Johnny's has been a great spot for years. Also some of other places. I mean if he wants a place that only locals know about than ask for a local hangout, but I wouldn't call Johnny's or Galatoire's trendy.
