Claiborne: Once his video was up and available for people to see, everyone was huge on his ability. He was one of the smoothest looking athletes LSU has recruited in awhile. There was no second guessing his offer -- the kid looked awesome on film.

Tyrann Mathieu: He was arguably the most dominant CB prospect at the Tennessee camp since Patrick Peterson went out to USC Rising Stars and taunted the best WRs in the country to try to beat him. Tyrann was the only CB the entire weekend to stop Jarvis Landry (when he was a junior). He was far from a hidden talent.

-------

Please stop using these guys are justification for hidden gems. if you want to use a hidden gem reference then go for someone like Alex Hurst, Josh Williford, Perry Riley, Kelvin Sheppard, or even Jalen Mills. Using Mo and TM7 as some kind of justification for how amazing the coaches are at talent evaluation is just foolish.

Well when you are less that a 4* which I think both were then yea normally you are reffered to as a diamond in the ruff. They had athletecism but needed to be polished.

A little bit, Rummel.

I can't stand these cliche, BS remarks from uninformed fans.

It's true that no one questioned the offer after seeing Claiborne's film, but he was definitely plucked from relative obscurity.

No. True diamonds in the rough are 2 stars or less.

I agree that his commitment made everyone go "and who is this?"...and then an hour later film finally got posted at TigerBait and the entire fanbase rejoiced.

Shep and Riley had tons of offers including v tech and Tennessee while chavis was there. Hurst was wanted by UT and their fans were upset when he committed here.

I can't say that I disagree with you.

It's like the newbie gym people after New Years. They come here right before signing day and think they're Frank Wilson.

rivals didn't even have a picture of Claiborne when he committed; just had the generic rivals photo like he missed picture day or something. define "diamond in the rough" however you want but NOBODY was on claiborne except for LSU and some very low end schools.

Sonny was in the middle of a tsd chat when he broke the news about claiborne.

Everyone was questioning it.

The threads were bumped here several times before being anchored. They read much the same way some of the Spears threads do.

People definitely second guessed Mo and TM7.
