Nah, these guys are appreciative of good bourbon, so I didn't feel bad sharing the upper middle class stuff, and those are all bottles fairly easy to find. It's the ones I'm less confident about finding the next round of that I tend to hoard. I like to keep my OT baller status, but as others have suggested, there are better ways to do that, so I'm looking for a handle of Makers to pour for the masses.

So I've got a question about 'ol Elmer. I didn't try Elmer T Lee until several months ago and it was awful. Said I'd never buy it again and was confused since several posters have said it's their go-to.. Well I picked up a few bottles at lunch today and decided to give Elmer T Lee a second chance. This bottle is very good! I know it's a single barrel and every barrel is different, etc etc... but have you ever got a bottle of single barrel bourbon that you were familiar with that was just bad?

This has not been my experience at all. Never had a bad bottle, and I've had quite a few.

I've never had a bad bottle, but I've definitely heard of this happening. Single barrel bourbon could always potentially be hit or miss since you don't have others to help drown it out. I think the companies usually do pretty well to make sure they have a good mostly consistent product that isn't bad but I'm sure some bad apples do slip through the cracks occasionally. Glad your next bottle has been better

Another poster was saying they think they also got a bad bottle in BR around the same time. I'm sure a bad barrel slips through every so often. Im just glad I decided to try it again! One of my favorite everyday bourbons now.

I'll finally be opening my bottle of Pappy 15 in a couple weeks on a beach trip with my sister and brother in law. Brother in law is a fan of great bourbon and he will be a great one to share it with.

I usually have a snort or two of Maker's Mint Julep on Derby Day. I like it for one drink, more than that is generally too much.

They were letting people sample Noah's Mill and Rowan's Creek today at the Martin's on Veterans. First time I've had either and I thought they were both excellent. I bought a bottle of Noah's Mill and will probably crack it open tonight.

Had Four Rose Single Barrel and Blanton's tonight

I think Four Roses was the better of the two, but both were great

I have a bottle of this but I really do not care for it. It is barreled in smaller barrels than normal in an attempt to age the bourbon faster. It really has a harsh flavor in my opinion. Once you give it a try post what you think.

You may like it there are a lot of people on here that love blanton's and I can't stand it. I've given away three bottles over the years from buying it thinking I must be wrong because everyone else likes it but I really don't.

I don't like Blanton's either or Bourbon in general. I'm a Speyside single malt scotch guy. Gave the Baby Bourbon to a friend. He likes it, I guess free whiskey taste better

How many bourbons have you tried? I only ask b/c Scotch (especially the Speyside's) get much of their character from used bourbon barrels (since the Scots are a bunch of cheap bastards, lol). I love bourbon and have found that I like a lot of the Speyside Scotch for the similarities. Granted, the sherry casks and port flutes, etc give them another dimension.

I have Jefferson Reserve 18 sitting with all my scotches. If you're talking about mixing bourbon, there are many I'll drink but I prefer to drink whiskies neat or on the rocks. I'd rather Crown Black over many bourbons neat or on the rocks

In the cabinet now are: Johnny Walker Blue, Balvenie Single Barrel 15, Balvenie 14 Caribbean, Jefferson 18, Glenlivet 18 & Jameson 12
