fingers crossed that I get my hands on one or a couple bottles. I found a store in FL that thinks they are getting 6 bottles.

Still had some at one of my local places last time I was there a couple weeks ago if that helps.

The stores I talked to said once its released and people get word it would last the entire day. The entire orlando/tampa area is only getting 102 bottles.

I'm hosting a bourbon tasting soon and wanted to get opinions on the lineup. Keep in mind a couple of the guys aren't hardcore bourbon drinkers.

Bookers
Noahs Mill
Elijah Craig 12
Four Roses single barrel
W L Weller 12
Eagle Rare 10

Thoughts?

I prefer single barrel for the regular edition.

Thanks

I called the restaurant where I tasted it and they confirmed that they serve the single barrel.

I know most people here will disagree with me, but I just don't get the pappy hype. I've tried both the 15 and the 20, and found myself disappointed in both. Maybe my expectations were too high. I think I just prefer rye bourbons to wheat bourbons.

Opened my first bottle of Rowan's creek. It was interesting. There was a spice that kinda threw me off. It got better with the second glass. The jury is still out.

The actual Pappy taste tends to fall a bit short of expectations, but it's still very good bourbon....too bad it's just jumped the shark in the last year or so...

The 12-year Van Winkle rye is worth a shot, and I've found it in no fewer than 5 places over the last month...

ETA: It is still BY FAR the best bourbon on the planet, I'm just saying some people blow it up to be even better than it is...

Bars are charging upwards of $75 for an ounce of 23...no way I could imagine paying for that...

Even though I have my lineup set for my bourbon tasting, I find that I can't stop looking for more bottles. This morning while searching online, I came across Garrison Bros Texas Straight Bourbon. Has anyone here tried it, or know anything about it?

There was a big article this Spring in the Houston Chronicle about that distillery in part of their series on Texas produced bourbons. When I priced it at Specs, I discovered they were quite proud of it, so I opted to try the 1835 for my first foray into Texas products. It's not bad, though for the price point (mid-$30's), I would drink Rowan's or Noah's, or one of my new favorites, Angel's Envy.

There seems to be quite a few Texas whiskeys now. I have the 1835 that I bought for $20, and it's well worth that.
