LSU Offers Curtis LB Duke Riley & Rummel TE Cethan Carter

Word is that both kids have been offered a greyshirt, at the moment, & will have an opportunity to become a part of the 2014 class. This all could change if Beckwith bolts for Bama, and other players fall through.

This offer initially came as a surprise to me, but the more I think about it, it makes sense:
The top 2013 player for the top team in the state this year.
Just won 2A State Defensive Player of the year.
LSU likes to add a late offer to an in-state kid who really came on thier senior year (e.g.. Micah Eugene, Deion Jones..).
I definitely think that this is the offer Riley was looking for, and I can't wait to see him continue to improve in purple and gold!

His offer list is pretty good. I think the staff had interest in him early on but his size was the issue. Has he bulked up? How is his speed?

Some guy on twitter (Scott Sommer) who covers SDSU recruiting for scout claims he will have to greyshirt. Not sure if he knows what he's talking about. Just thought I would share.

It's a grey shirt offer with an outside shot at it being 2013 depending on what happens with other recruits. Congrats to Riley. Kid can play.

i think Duke will get his spot this year suspect Beckwith will be rooming with Landon in Bama land.
Gotta admit Bama got lot going for them especially with the NCG two years in a row, and Nickie is god to all the tv gurus. Well talent is important but what you do with the talent is even more important. Case in point UT and Mack the talent killer.

This kid is a football player, reminds me of Hester on the other side of the ball. I've been hoping he gets an offer. Think he is deserving of a 2013 offer, but coaches offered grey shirt. Hope he takes it, kid deserves to be in purple and gold.

Has nothing to do with Beckwith and everything to do with Duke Riley earning his way to this offer. It's a grey shirt. They're still clearly planning on Beckwith being in this class.
As stacked as La is next year no one has emerged at OLB and bringing Riley makes sense. Kid is very good and wants to be at LSU.

I think the staff has always liked and followed him, and he helped his cause with a big showing in the state championship game vs. Evangel. He showed good speed on a long fumble return.

Duke is a great competitor and has the "it" factor on the field. He doesn't shy away from contact and is also a leader. As far as speed, yes he is the indoor 55 meter hurdle runner up and he is also the 2a discus champion which shows he has explosiveness.
