Yeah, I like Napoli but he is a free agent. It depends on the market. He made $9.4 million this season and if he's willing to take a steep pay cut, then he could be a part of the team. 2 years, $14 million? I'd prefer to only pay him around $5 million per year, but you might have to go to $7. If someone wants to give him a big deal, you have to let him go.

Don't see it. They're probably going to go into rebuild mode. If they make a 'big signing' this year I think it'll be Swisher. Not saying they'll land him but by all accounts he's a good clubhouse presence and will probably be around $12-15 million over 3-4 years. If Hamilton gets the $140-million over 7 some are suggesting, then Swisher is easily the answer. He's a step below Hamilton in production, but you're getting 150 games of .360OBP/25HR/90RBI ball for less than half the money and half the years.

That being said, I think Swisher ends up out west.

I would be one happy camper if Napoli goes elsewhere.

I wonder how much money Hamilton cost himself with all his issues this year and his antics down the stretch?

No way TX attempts to resign him. Radio in Dallas have been saying it all summer and I thought they were crazy. After he missed 5 games during a pennant race for too much caffeine and dry eyes I think he sealed his fate.

I just can't see Nolan wanting to put up with all the baggage.

I believe we have Soto for one more year. Agreed, not a good thing but Napoli hasn't shown that a long-term deal is in the club's best interests.

Yup. He's arbitration 3.

If he takes a serious pay-cut he would probably be worth it. We're talking $5-million and 3 years at the VERY most though.

As a die hard Rangers fan, I want this guy gone. He used to play hard now he doesn't, his body language sucks, he doesn't really respect his manager, misses games for weird reasons in the middle of a pennant race, etc. Good riddance.

I would keep Nap if it's, as the previous poster stated something like 3 for $15 million or so.

We need to break some of these younger guys in and see how they do.

Why is this? Serious question. I had a friend state that the Rangers needed to change managers. I do not know how you move the manager that led us to two world series. The friend feels that they would have won it all if not for Washington.

Your thoughts?

This latest announcement is the team's way of controlling any PR fall out from letting him walk.

I could see them going higher than that... but definitely a pay cut from where he is now.

Profar is going to be a stud.

I like Wash. There's no way they even get to those Series without him. He's good at juggling all the personalities and the FO likes him. At first - it seemed like some of the stuff Wash was doing was wildly erratic... but he was just learning how to deal with his guys and put them in a position to succeed. You won't see nearly as many people questioning in-game moves and general personnel decisions as you would've a few years ago.

Wash makes the occasional curious move but I think every manager does this at times.

IMO its stupid to blame Wash for losing the WS both years, when its his agressive style that got them there in the first place. This is esspecially true of last year since they were down to the last out and the pen simply collapsed.

Smart thing to do. Any offers JH gets will have to be loaded with contingencies for falling off the wagon. I just don't see the big spenders throwing Cecil like numbers at him without it. I expect him to stay when all is said and done.

With the new TV deal coming into effect in 2014 and essentially giving teams an extra $25 million to spend, I think you'll see contracts continue to really rise. Don't think Hamilton gets Fielder's deal (Fielder despite being fat is ridiculously durable and was only 28) but he will get close to 200 IMO and the Rangers won't come close IMO.

And for those that think Napoli is signing anywhere for 5 million/year.....come on.

Not much. A team will overpay regardless.

I doubt Boston gets into long term contracts again.

I could see them overspending for the ability to have players for less years.
