Agressive dog breed list for apartments

I'm looking at apartments and most of them have one, it's got mostly the breeds you would expect, Pitt bulls, German Shepards, Huskies ect...
I guess I understand they don't want some breeds because irresponsible people could raise them poorly and they could harm somebody; but I still think this is a dumb concept. I could have a Golden and it could be aggresive if I raised it to be.
Whats ridiculous is one of the complexes I looked at has Great Danes on their aggressive breed list, keep in mind they say it has nothing to do with size

A lot of places put those dogs on that list because of their size, NOT their aggressiveness.. bull shite list IMHO

Basically someone with a Great Dane either caused severe damage or caused a lawsuit in some way. Dumb people screw things up for the good people. That complex is just protecting their property/business.

I've personally had more and heard more stories about run-ins with great danes than any other breeds. Seriously.

If you have a big dog you shouldn't live in an apartment anyway.

The point though is that if they're going to allow animals, restricting typically aggressive breads will limit liability. It makes perfect sense to me. If they wanted to completely eliminate liability, they just wouldn't allow any. But that doesn't seem like the intent.

Yea I know thats what happened I just think the agressive breed list is a stupid thing anyway, and then you go and put on it a breed that is described as gentle, and enjoys being around people and children...

Good point. You're asking for problems from a dog that needs space as well as not letting it live a full life.

Great Danes are actually some of the best apartment dogs BTW, they enjoy small spaces because they think of it as their "den"

FWIW I didn't say I was getting a Great Dane, just that it's dumb they are on the list

Pretty sure an entire apartment won't be thought of as a "den", even for a Great Dane...

It is...... until your neighbors great dane decides its coming into your apartment through the screened in porch you have
followed by his little buddy the english bulldog...
made my corgi shite his pants for a second... then he started playing with them and herding that big fricker into a corner.
still upset that i had to put the little guy down

The rule is that the reason they have a rule, its because someone fricked it up for everyone else. They're just trying to run a facility.

Believe it or not, Great Danes can make some of the best apartment dogs, since Great Danes ironically do not take up much space considering that they're the largest dog breed especially.

Great Dane – This large breed can make a good apartment pet if it gets a couple of daily walks. The rest of the time it will be content to lounge on the couch.

Like I said, as long as you are a responsible dog owner and give your dog daily outdoor exercise, Great Danes are very content lounging in apartments

Our list is agressive breeds (even mixes) AND size, so Danes wouldn't be allowed. Most labs either.

Who knows why they pick what they do. One resident has an a-hole terrier that could and should be deemed agressive

re: Agressive dog breed list for apartments
I'm sure they probably do have a weight limit.

Ours is 65lbs.

Dane isn't restricted by breed here but is by size.

They don't have a weight limit. The guys said I could have an English mastiff if I wanted it...

Then that property probably had something specific with that breed happen. Who knows.

I wish we didnt allow the shitty little annoying dogs.
