Son and his girlfriend are going to Houston this weekend. They will likely be in town for lunch and dinner sat, sunday lunch.
They are not picky eaters...... But i have steered them away from Benny Hanas (he asked about)
I am going to suggest Goode Co Seafood if they want seafood, Goode Co Taqueria for breakfast, Pappas or Cap Grille if they decide steak..... But what are some places close - anything from BBQ to Indian to Viet to Mexican.... Whatever may be a good spot that they wint have to travel far. I

If they are from LA, I would probably steer them away from seafood. Bettter options available in south LA.
That being said, if they are looking for fine dining, I would look at Masraff's or Pappa's.
Buffalo Grill (Woodway and Voss) has a good breakfast.
I'd also probably suggest Messican - Pappasito's is ok (little pricey), El Tiempo has great fajitas, and Cyclone Anaya's (Woodway and Augusta) has a pretty good menu.

Tell them to make reservations for brunch at Hugo's on Sunday...27 bucks a head, all you can eat, at one of the better restaurants in town.
Kata Robata for sushi wouldn't be bad Saturday night, or they could try to get a reservation at Uchi, it's pretty hard on the weekends though.
Reef or Goode company for seafood.
Underbelly for locavore type shite.
Oporto for Portuguese...they do mostly tapas style service.
Argentina Cafe is right behind the Galleria off Sage...pretty good choice for a quick lunch.
Breakfast Klub or La Mexicana are some other options for breakfast.
Anvil, Hay Merchant for drinks.

Uchi is about as upscale as you're gonna get, but it opened a few months ago and it's pretty hard to get a weekend res, for good reason. Uchi is pretty fricking good.
Kata would work though, they have some pretty interesting menu items-I was there last night. Grilled tuna collar and fried green tomatoes with kimchi grits.

Would be a great option Saturday night but it gets absolutely slammed.
Churrasco's is pretty good if you want something you probably can't really get in LA.
I'll try to think of more options

Casual in the area...
Beck's prime for burgers
Houstons for salads, prime rib, steaks, burgers, drinks, etc.

Petrol Station is a short drive up 610. They should check that out for a casual place with good beers and burgers.

they wanted sushi/hibachi......only time I could get them into UCHI was 10:45pm, so they have reservations at Kata Robata. I am gonna buy them dinner, so they can save their $ to do Hugo's sunday am......If they decide against Hugo's for brunch, they have been given some good spots for lunch sunday before they leave town.
Thanks again
