Going tomorrow night. Haven't been in about a year so was wondering if any of yall checked out the new tap room I hear they have installed? Also last time I was there they were out of DFH...hoping they have that in this time.

Also any suggestions are welcome. Bringing my girl so I'm hoping to expand her beer palate.

Your cloths will smell like an ash tray after leaving that joint.

O I know, I've been before. It's a nice place to get some beers you don't drink everyday though.

Good to hear about the tap. 60??! Damn.

Yeah, the tap room is a nice addition finally. It's cool that they serve like 100 different bottled beers, but you can never take the place of a good draft beer.

More like 400-500. I agree with your thoughts on draft, I'm still stunned that Tom relented and agreed to put taps in. Never thought I would see it.

The tap room is non-smoking, and Phil is doing a great job getting some exotic stuff in. Some of them aren't cheap (Mikkeller 1000 IBU, To ol Final Frontier, etc...) but it's some good beer. And they have cheaper draft options also.

The screwing he got from the Bulldog was definitely the Cove's gain. I haven't been since the number of taps blew up (sorry, I love the Port too much), I'll have to make a pass sometime soon.

They don't have 60 taps yet. Maybe 25-30 tops but I'm sure they're working on it. The stuff they do have is pretty decent overall with a few really good items and some boring stuff thrown in there.
I really hope they can get on the avenue pub's level one day.

Will never happen. Ave pub is like that because polly is passionate about it.

Phil said on Wednesday that once those Abita and Blue Moon kegs run out they will not be replaced. They don't sell and now Crescent Crown recognizes it so they are pushing them to keep those beers on tap. They are adding 11 more taps in the next 2 weeks and by the middle of June they will add the remaining 11 or so taps which will bring their total up to about 58 I believe.

Tom feels he can be the second best tap bar in the state and seems to be working towards that. If only he wasn't so concerned/man loved with Mikkeller. I mean i like the brewery and all but I don't have a desire to drink 10 dollar pints all night.

I'm a sucker for Mikkeller so I get their $5 tasters. They still need to get the selects/seasonals/limited edition things in my oppinion. Make me want to go there for a reason.

Tom has over 400 different bottles of beer, something like 200 scotches, 100 bourbons, 60 or so vodkas, a bunch of gins, like 15 different absinthes. I'd say that's a passion. His goal is for about 100 taps by the end of the year. Once that stubborn son of a bitch decides he's going to have more than anyone else around, he WILL have more than anyone else around.

The Bulldog let him go after that douche got wasted, drove, and killed the guy on the bike. It was a gut reaction (PR move) decision long before the bar was cleared of any wrongdoing, IMO.

Whatever you say. Let me know when tom flys to belgium to make connections with brewers so he can get rare kegs here. Dudes passion is for money, which is fine, hes a business owner.
