A buster Olney tweet caught my attention. He said he thought Mo would make the Yankees Mt Rushmore while Jayson Stark disagrees. What would you say?

Keep it old with Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle? Jeter...Mo? Could even argue adding Steinbrenner?

Jeter.

Jeter definitely doesn't belong on the NYY Mt. Rushmore. It's Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, and Mantle, followed by Yogi Berra. I don't any Yankee fan who would argue otherwise.

Mo would absolutely make it. He's the best closer in MLB history

Jeter is so overrated.

He's still an all time Yankee great, though.

So the #1 hits leader for the Yankees all time doesn't deserve a spot on the NYY Mt. Rushmore??

Jeter has 5 rings and is the only Yankee with 3000 hits... He will definitely go into Monument Park.

Problem is... they are eventually gonna run out of Singles.

So you think Jeter is a better player and greater Yankee than Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, and Berra?

Player, no.

He's right up there with lots of fans in the 'beloved' category though.

Maybe someone should recognize that the greatest franchise in professional sports history should have room for more than 4 people on its "Mount Rushmore."

Did you ever witness Ruth, Gehrig, or DiMaggio play? You are going strictly off of legend if you never witnessed them play (which I'm assuming you haven't because you'd have to be like 95 to even have a shot).

He is a better player? It's hard to judge b/c I never personally witnessed them play and none of them played SS.

Statistically, Jeter is every bit as impressive and is a Top 5 Yankee of all time.

Because he's a pitcher and doesn't fit into the argument that he's trying to make comparing hitters.

To be fair, did you ever see Ruth, Gehrig, or DiMaggio play?

...then it isnt a "mt. rushmore" dingleberry. Ruth, gherig, dimaggio, and mantle. Easy.

I implied that I didn't which is why I said I couldn't judge.

I did say that statistically Jeter is a Top 5 NYY.

If they don't they can just buy another one anyway

But really, arguing this shite is tough. When you say "best Yankees" you have a handful of guys you're discussing that are also in the "top 10-20" of all time discussion as well.

are all better than Jeter. yes, Jeter was a great yankee.

but all of those were great yankees plus arguably greatest players of all time. can anyone argue that jeter was the best player of all time?
