I have a Brinkman Stainless propane Grill(around $250). I cleaned it often, and kept a cover on it. I mainly got it for the convenience of turn it on, cook, turn it off. It seems no matter what I do, it is rusting out on the bottom pan under the burners. also the gas channels are loose and falling out. how long are these things supposed to last. I used it about once a week.?

Do you invest in expensive grills, or just get a new $100 or less grill every year? Not interested in smoking meat, just grilling. I'm thinking about going back to charcoal.

I'm still using a hand-me-down weber kettle that's about as old as I am.

I don't even take that great of care of it and it still looks and works fine.

My parents got a brinkmann grill about 4-5 years ago and their's is falling apart as well. One burner is completely gone and the supports for the burners are disintegrating. There's is completely uncovered and out in the weather, so that may have something to do with it. I'm trying to convince them to get a weber, but they don't seem too thrilled about spending that much money. My Weber is 2 or 3 years old, and still looks brand new- granted it's under full cover.

Best combination for the money. I would get the Weber Performer first. The Weber Performer is about $330 and the big WSM is about $400. So for $730 you have a fantastic smoker and grill that will last you at least 20 years.

Once a week clean out the bottom of your grill, and I mean spotless. When ash and moisture mix it makes a caustic slurry that I have see eat through 1/4inch iron on a Klause pit and that ain't cheep. Get all the ash out and rub with cooking oil.

I hear you. It's a nice grill. Lot's of burners. Too bad it burns tasteless gas for fuel. But at that price it is a no brainer. You should get a kettle too.
