My father in law is coming in town this weekend for his birthday and wants to go to a shooting range. He really wants to go to an outdoor range to shoot his rifle. Do you guys know any?

I told him it may rain and we may have to be indoors, what is the best? I know alot of people go to Precision. Will it be too busy for 4 of us to shoot on Saturday?

Thanks for the help.

Sherburne WMA has an outdoor range. Also, for pistols, basspro is like $10 an per lane. Pretty cheap

Precision only has one rifle range (I think 25 yards), and they only have 5-10 regular ranges.

That is pretty much the only place. I seriously considered and looked in to opening one in the Prairieville area, but someone else beat me to it. I think they're opening at the end of the year though.

Maybe I'll explore doing it in Baton Rouge.

I've been to Baker range. Indoors and 25 yards max.

It is going to be at the corner of Duplessis and Airline. I think they're going to do the tactical shooting challenges and all that shite there too.

I'll see if I can find the website.

Precision is really nice. That's where I go shoot. Geaux Shooting hasn't opened / been built yet.

Is Hunter's Run across the river still open to the public. Used to be able to pay to skeet shoot, but had to be a member to shot at the pistol/rifle range

Yeah it backs up to Bishop Woods.

I'm gonna ride by one afternoon and see if they broke ground yet.

One of the posters on here said they were opening at the end of the year.

I'm gonna ride by after work. It's only a few minutes from my house.

I would think that a range (rifle and pistol) and clays in the Port Vincent area would be great. I could pull from P'ville, South Baton Rouge, and Livingston Parish and still be located in an area with enough land where the neighbors won't complain...

From what I've been researching ranges are hard to get permits for. I'm going to keep looking into it though.

I'd probably start with a range, ammo, accessories, and an FFL. I wouldn't stock new firearms at first, but do FFL transfers and charge like $25 or $30 each. Let them order off of Gun Broker or Gallery of Guns and charge them for the transfer. Retailers can't compete with their prices and you don't have to deal with inventory risk that way.

A buddy and Myself actually wanted to do this in St. Gabriel, Wanted to make a nice sporting clay range, skeet, trap, rifle, pistol, etc. Figured we could pull everyone in BR away from fighting the bridge going to hunters run and would be alot closer for p-ville/Gonzales, and even pull NOLA on the weekends! Were getting into insurance and permits then they guy who was putting up the land for 1/3 of business backed out on us!
