Yeah, I'm thinking they don't count Bama's loss in LSU's SOS ranking since LSU was the one that gave Bama that loss....in other words, it's not right to penalize LSU's SOS for something they did right. I'm also guessing they don't count all the other losses that LSU gave teams as well in LSU's SOS ranking

That's gotta be the only explanation.

I doubt any team with the toughest schedule has ever won the Nat'l Championship.

The 'germans' type posters are 15 y/o idiots who live on the net, they have no life. Pity them

Nothing is more "germans" than the people with nothing better to do than to pounce on posts with a "germans" flame.

Let me get this straight:

We are the only undefeated team in the country after playing far and away the toughest schedule; we are playing Alabama in the Superdome who we already beat in Tuscaloosa, yet we are a 1 to
1-1/2 point underdog by the Vegas bookmakers. What am I missing?

what you are missing is the fact that the line has little to do with team strength. It is strictly a tool used to balance out the pools of money on either side of the betting.

#5 OSU
#9 Bama
both bama and osu have one loss.
So is it the quality of the loss that gets factored into the equation that gets bama in the game and keeps osu out.

This was won by the Human Polls not the Computers. The Computers had OSU as the #2 Team and the Polls with 2/3rds of the votes had Bama #2. The voters wanted a rematch because they said Bama was the better Team. By this Poll SOS that was not so OSU was the better team by way of a stronger schedule. Turn that around and say OSU gets the votes to play and not Bama and Bama had the better SOS they would be screamin to the high heavens and would try their best to have a recount if that would be possible. They would still be hollerin bloody murder but they won and they are happy.

You know what? so am I we beat Bama this time they have nothing to stand on but to say LSU is/was the best Team this past year. That will make them sooooo maddd! and Me soooo Happppyyyy!

Best two teams. That's the one and only criterium. Bama was clearly the second best team, so they're in.

Exactly. The people who ultimately determine the line are not Vegas gurus but are the same people who elected Bush and Obama as our last two presidents. Get it now?

I understand that, but the fact that the line has moved from LSU being favored to Alabama being favored (which encourages more betting on LSU)means that more money has been on Alabama.

Again, what am I missing? People are over-complicating this. We palyed the toughest schedule. We went undefeated. We already beat the team we are about to play on their homefield. I hope the betting public stays clueless and keeps moving the line toward Alabama. We will beat them by double-digits this time.

Cumulative record, while indicative of opponent's success, is not the best way to determine SOS. I believe LSU played the toughest schedule in the nation but that conclusion is not based upon cumulative record.

Technically, the BCSCG matches #1 vs #2, by whatever means and reasoning the three BCS components have the teams ranked cOllectively.

So while it may very well end up the "two best teams" in some years, there is certainly NOT something in the BCSCG by laws that mandate it be the two best teams. It's #1 vs #2, but that is a tad different statement than matching the two "best" teams.

And FWIW, there's nothing wrong with some voters voting for the "most deserving" teAm(s). Like it or not, that's part of the system.
