Per common sense...

The SOS value that counts (and this doesn't apparently count FCS teams) is going into the bowl games.

LSU is #1 at 63.9%

Bama is #26 at 56.3%

OSU was #10 at 58.7%, yet Bama is better.

Good point about not including the bowl game....Bama's schedule is weak (relatively speaking to OSU and LSU) if you take out the bowl game against LSU.

The difference between #1 and #2 is the same as the difference between #2 and #15.

Wow.

Yeah, I mean, the bowl games are automatically going to inflate the top teams records. Basically Bama gets a much bigger bump than LSU for losing to them.

As for the whole season and true SOS, you need to give more weight to road games than home games, and a middle weight between the two for neutral games.

If you play all your best opponents at home, then that's a bit misleading. For example:

3 out Bama's 4 toughest games played (LSU, Arkansas, and Auburn ) were at home with PSU the only one away.

4 out of LSU's 5 toughest games played (Bama, Oregon, UGA and WVU) were away from home with Arkansas the only one at home.

People don't want to realize just how difficult LSU's schedule was this year and how much easier Bama's was.

Tulane finished the year at 2-11 after playing the second easiest schedule in the country. DAMN

I agree with this statement. It gets old when they want to work on increasing their post counts.

Bama was using SOS based on the rankings at the time the game was played.

Hopefully this isn't built under the same logic.

lots of numbers on that spread sheet but?
#1 LSU
#5 OSU
#9 Bama
both bama and osu have one loss.
So is it the quality of the loss that gets factored into the equation that gets bama in the game and keeps osu out. ie if OSU has tuffer schedule then their one loss is stronger than bama. except bama loss is to #1 LSU. Guess my point is i don't understand selection process for Bcs game.

Based on this Oklahoma State should be in the NC game.

Exactly right...that was the pundit's argument. Had OSU only lost to say Oklahoma, they'd be in the dance.

Past opposition 78-44
Future opposition 10-1
Cumulative opposition 88-44

Something doesn't add up

Perhaps they don't feel right counting Bama's loss.

I agree 100000%!!!!!! Well said. I for one, and I know I'm not alone, do not read this board constantly and appreciate a second or even third post about something I may not have seen previously.
