Cooking for a couple who just got back from their destination wedding and honeymoon that we were unable to attend. We want to make something nice for them. We live in shitville, so ingredients are limited. Steaks, shrimp, fresh sausage/boudin, pork, chicken...
Besides the butcher, Walmarks is the only grocery store in town. So, no ingredients I can't pronounce.

Thinking of making a chimichurri to top the steaks with. It'd be nice to have some smoked paprika to dry rub on the steaks before going on the charcoal pit.

A nice roasted chicken with vegetables.

this is an underrated condiment. I was making lots of it this summer out of my herb garen and it really works with a grilled steak

Look up Bobby Flay's jerk marinade for a grilled steak. It rocks for a change of pace.

Uh, this IS the food and drink board and I don't think marinading steaks is allowed to be discussed here.

Osso Bucco served over polenta. Steamed green beans, sauteed with garlic and then lemon juice and lemon zest.

Fry some eggplant medallions and serve them over angel hair, topped with a good shrimp cream sauce. Serve with crusty garlic bread and a good salad.

Veal shank or the traditional cow tail osso bucco?
I say do a beef tenderloin, turnip gratin, and a salad. BBQ shrimp and a patter of cheeses and whatnot for apps.

That is peasant food. Everyone knows to upscale it you need ox tails.

Where do you live that you only have a Walmark's available? Is there no other town near you with other offerings? Walmark's meat scares me.

You could not pay for the food and give it to me for free to get me to eat anything from Walmarks meat dept.

Beaute of a place called Bay St. Louis. We do have a butcher in town though, C.J.'s. I wouldn't be surprised if they just went to Sam's and bought meat to cut up. They sell fresh sausage and boudin that is very good but the rest of the store is just random shite outside of a good cheese or two.
There are no plans for another grocer either, frickin hickville.

Jack Daniels Pork loin, steamed asparagus, baked sweet potatoes, and a salad. A Pinot Noir is a good wine with this meal.
