allowed to compete for Louisiana's high school championships with public schools. It is GROSSLY unfair.

Congratulations to Evangel? Pfffft. They have never competed on a level playing field.

You started this thread earlier this year, after Aquinas blew out Upper Arlington (who by the way, finished 5-5 and finished as the 10th best Division I team in Columbus, missing the playoffs in the process). FWIW, at least in Ohio, the gap really isn't that big (at least it's not in D-I, the highest division. The privates do typically fare very well in the lower divisions, though). Maybe it's a big advantage in LA, though.

They do not have to follow the rules of the LHSAA they should not get to play for the LHSAA championship

If it was Evangel Atheist School and John Curtis Agnostic School he would not have a problem with it. When he says "private" school he really means Christian school.

It's really just Evangel and Curtis that really dominate. There are lots of names you hear every year that are competitive in-state, and there is a pretty balanced mix of public and private schools.

I assume the issue is they can have anyone they want while public schools are restricted to their attendance zone?

Rex, are you bitter that your dad didn't make enough to send you to private school?

And, as I mentioned, it's not really a huge problem here (at least not big enough to make it a separate division from Division I), and it doesn't sound like it's that big of a deal in LA.

Anyone who thinks a private school and public school compete on level playing fields in Louisiana High School Sports, you're kidding yourself.

At a public school, you couldn't graduate and take gym for 50% of your classes your senior year (here's looking at you Evangel).

Not really sure how pointing out that one has an advantage over the other is whining...

It's obvious that a school like Evangel puts a premium on athletics.. and they can succeed in doing so because they do not play by the same rules.

THe problem is you are grouping all private schools together when its only a couple.

For many private schools who have admission standards they cant get the same students.

Also the fact that it costs several thousand dollars to attend help either. Especially when you consider where many of these kids come from.

Id argue that more private schools are at a competitive disadvantage.

Is it unfair because Jesus is helping the private school, Rex?

Dude, Catholic High ain't repeating shite in the finals. Ever.

But yeah, private schools have advantages. Being able to pull from out of area is one. Being able to do K-12 is another (with kids in the system from 5th or 6th grade at least). I don't think they're required to do LEAP, etc. etc. Probably easier to 'hold kids back' in early grades to have them be, in essence, a year older than other teams, etc. etc.

Thing is the majority of private schools use their avantages, if at all, to compensate for their disadvanates - kids have to pay to go there, they tend to be smaller, no public resources for facilities, etc.

But there are a few that use their advantages to the maximum extent to become "football factories" and dominate year after year. Generally it makes for some boring football but not always - like this year when private v. private is pitted against each other it was a very good 2A game and looks to be a good 3A game.
