isn't this the year of the transisional recruits from the year saban left/miles came? wasn't it ranked like 18 or so? And wasn't perrilloux the gem of the class? Isn't senior leadership a must for a successful team?

matter of fact our worst recruiting in the last 10 years was 05, 06 by far. trindon holliday, brandon lafell, lyle hitt, black are the 3 stars left over from that class, chris hawkings and rahim alem are the 2 four stars left over. Perriloux got the ax. 13 recruits in all, not very highly rated. This is what we are looking too to carry our team right now.

the 06 class was full off bust and players that did not pan out. some did not become what we hoped (al woods, keiland) but the next three were MUCH better. So the senior talent is just not there. We are not as talented as SOME might have you believe. But next year we will be LOADED. Oh, benton has counted like 4 times in the rankings

Wacky deduction i know.

No i am not defending miles, but a three loss season was expected with a new defensive staff and a qb.

All we really need is a time out advisor

Oh no, dude. We're the most talented team in the country. Don't say otherwise or you'll make the delusional people cry.

hey we are talented no doubt. but throw in a new qb and it gets real tricky. I would argue that bama (yes they are) florida have better talent and depth. Georgia and auburn about the same.

this is why we are getting beat up front alot. No quality depth. Besides the horses are just not there.

Tons of attrition on the offensive line as well.

last year we were a worse team but as far as depth goes we were deeper last year.

we have some good flashy athletes, don't get me wrong. But after looking around a bit, i realized we are not as talented as i thought.

And this in NO WAY excusses the piss poor playcalling WHATSOEVER.

Check the 125 man roster on LSU's website. There are 85 true/redshirt freshmen and sophomores. Yes, that is counting walk-ons, but that's still alot of underclassmen.

see! some objectivity!!!! People are taking this to far. Next year we should kick arse!!!!!!

also. The perception of saban and what he has done at alabama is not helping les's cause either. I mean les won the championship three years removed. So saban had little coaching influence on them, if any at all.

so we are definitely as talented as we all think, considering right now, next years class is ranked 4th and the last 4 years we've ranked

2009 - 2nd
2008 - 11th (hmmmmmm)
2007 - 4th
2006 - 7th

coaching = problem

When people say we are more talented than the teams that beat us, they ignore our OL.

When you have an OL that can neither run block or pass block, the number of plays you can effectively run is severely reduced. The offense ends up looking disjointed and inconsistent. And, you rarely are able to get into a rythm.

Les Miles is too great of a recruiter for LSU to have anything less than top 6 talent in the SEC West.

Our 4*'s get pushed all over the field by other teams 2 and 3*'s. Doesn't matter how good you recruit, if you don't develop that talent you get bypassed.

LA Tech manhandled LSU on the field. LSU talent, upon enrollment was vastly superior.

Look at what kinds of atheletes Colorado recruited when McCartney, Miles, and Dinardo were there.

Brohams, it's not that we're 9-3 that is troublesome. After all, most everyone expected us to lose between 2 and 4 games this year, it's the matter in which we've lost them. Not showing up against UF, laying an egg in the second half against Bama, and this total embarrasment against Ole Miss.

I'd much rather leave the stadium saying we just got beat by a much better team today than to have to put up with Miles and co.'s brain flatulance every week.

There is no one on the present coaching staff led by "less smiles" who can utalize this talent!

Team building and coaching up players is not anything "less smiles" ever did.

OSU was ready to drop him, look how that team bounced back after 2 seasons after getting rid of the thug element and establishing team work!

LSU will have to make the same adjustment after we "can" this clown.

That is a load of pollyanna horse crap.

What makes you optimistic?
The returning D line?
The returning O line?
Our stable of running backs?
Our all SEC QB?
Incredible LB depth?
Great offensive scheme?
Excellent utilization of the "best 11 players" on the field?
Superior Coaching?

The fact is that Miles is not a great evaluator of talent. It's not particularly developed well. He is not exactly "Mr. Details" at organization.

Yet, from all this, you expect a better 2010.
Please send me whatever you're smoking or increase your anti-psychotic doses.

I've been pointing this out for the past 2 months and no one wants to believe it.

We have a few good players but we do not have 22 good players.

i think both sides of the argument have merrit. Simply put, coaching alone is not the only reason we are not competing for the sec and national title this year.

completely agree...we are talented at the SKILL positions on offense however we are very week on both lines, average at LB and solid in the secondary with a some obvious standouts
