I agree. After 2 years O will be taking a new job. Book it.

This just plain sucks. As my brother, an Ole Miss alum, said... Ole Miss should erect a statue of Coach O outside Vaght Hemmingway. Why? Because he loaded them with talent. It just sucks. I cannot believe that he passed on LSU for $50K

I seriously doubt that Coach O is the only bull in the pasture. There will be others. The world will carry on, and we will be winning more games very shortly without this guy.

In terms of recruiting, Tiger Stadium versus the "erector set" ...............

I hope Coach O realizes he has just burned his last bridge with LSU...and Louisiana!
Apparently he doesn't . . .
quote:

Hebert said Orgeron told him he hoped he wasn’t burning a bridge to LSU because coaching the Tigers is still the Galliano native’s “dream job.”

“I think his ultimate dream is to be the head coach of LSU and he feels like if he has success at Tennessee that’s something that could still happen down the line,” Hebert said.

Orgeron is represented by agent Jimmy Sexton . . .

LINK
Silly to "get pressured" on the spot into signing anything in business. If that's how it went down, Orgeron really is a silly sot. Reality is that the "pressured" story is probably dubious though. It sounds very Sextonesque.

Regardless, signing a deal on a night LSU was playing a Bowl game doesn't seem to have been fair to Miles/LSU in terms of the negotiations. So yes, if that's what happened, I'd say O burned his bridges. In so far as his dream to eventually be LSU's HC, clearly that's delusional. Very doubtful IMO that Orgeron ever coaches at that level again at any school in D-1, much less at top tier.

You may be right.

O has shown superlative skills in securing top notch recruits though. He's also a damned fine position coach, and he's definitely passionate about the game.

I wouldn't underestimate his chances of EVER being a head coach at ANY D-1 school though. He's been down, but never out, and success and winning at UT will buy you some opportunities at that level.

I think we should drain some of the emotion out of this thing. Tenn. needs him more than LSU does. And if he wants to be the head coach at LSU one day, it was a better choice. His mistake was the timing.

Miles and The Chief would have gotten the credit for his hard work, so going to Tenn, kept his dream job alive. I think LSU will be in great hands. But, if we have a few bad seasons, and Tenn has a few good ones, no one will care about recent events.

This season is probably the worst one you'll have for a few years. With the recruiting class you have coming in, the hard part's going to be figuring out which star to sit.

Since Sexton is his agent....

1. I am really happy that we didn't get O
2. O will be at UT a maximum of 2 years

Agree. O may be a greatrecruiter, but we aren't really hurting in that department, and as I have said before, with O's XXXL personality, working under the Chief would have been a recipe for disaster.

Unless he's holding out for a future HC job. If this is his dream job he should have taken it period.

I was excited about the hire, but we really didn't need him, especially for that kind of paycheck.

If Yaw Yaw is both greedy and stupid enough that he'll leave Louisiana for a few more bucks at UT, then a BIG "FU" to him. Let the fool go on up there. Probably wouldn't have jelled with Chavis anyway, so MAYBE it's better in the long run. Everybody get it out of their system and then let's please not hear that clowns name on this website again, OK!............
