Just got a sweet cypress door from a Craigslist. Where can I get a piece of glass custom made for the door to be placed on top of it? Also what sort of thickness should I be looking to get? Not sure if there's a standard thickness for this sorta thing.
Oh and what can I expect to spend on it? The door measures about 3'x8'x2"

Just call your local glass shop. They cut plate glass for windows and such. They should be able to get you a quote.

Big River Glass had the best price when I got a 3'x3' earlier this year. It was 65$ if I remember correctly, so I would imagine yours is going to be in the $200-$300 range. Just tell them it's for a table top.

I just recently got pricing on 73" x 37" for a desk top, think they said 3/8" thick was standard for this application. The prices for this size I received were $100-$110

Prepare thy anus, that's going to be expensive. I called for 16"x7' and it was close to $125, never thought glass would be that high.
See if they will deliver it for you. That way if they break it it's on them. Have the table set up and in place before they arrive.

Call Bengal Glass & Mirror on Government. They've cut multiple table tops for me.

Just did this last week actually for a desk I built...
Babin's Glass in Gonzales cut me a piece of 1/4" glass that was roughly 30" x 48" for $55.00. It's not tempered but they did smooth the edges out and it looks great. I was afraid with it not being tempered but I accidently dropped a screwdriver on it while I was working above the desk and it didn't crack.

Good to know. I'm right by Dutchtown High so that's not too far away from me
