Madness idea unless you use a duty size gun

+1. Critical Duty is for full-length barrels and is made to defeat barriers and glass. It's not a good carry load for a small CC gun.

My carry loads:

Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P (Kahr CM9)
Federal HST 147gr +P (M&P9 compact)

I lost them all in a bad boating accident.

But before that I had .40 cal Speer gold dot 180gr in my XD and I think Hornady in my LCP.

Not defending the ammo because I dont care what anyone shoots. However a round that just "went off" had to be struck on the primer so that sounds like a gun issue and not an ammo issue.

That gimmick ammo hasn't been proven in nearly enough real world scenarios for me to trust my life with, I'd steer clear.

tons and tons of tests have been conducted, all that i've seen have been favorable. It's ideal for home defense, has good penetration and does massive damage on impact. I'll take it. To each his own though.

I've shot a lot of things with light bullets. I can tell you they typically do more damage than a single wound channel.

I know when you shoot a deer with a varmint load .223... They don't run off.

Stopping humans is about systemic shock. Frangible rounds do that well.

I got a box of that crap as a gift.

40 S&W 60gr hollow points. I don't even know if they are gonna pack enough punch to cycle through my pistols (gonna try this weekend for shits and gigs.)

Holding one of the 60gr and one of my 180 gr HST and it is clear which round you would trust your life with.

So you got it as a gift, haven't shot it or researched it? Gotcha'.

How do tests on ballistic gel (granted it's not quite like shooting flesh) not prove an ammo's potential? For home defense it's especially superior due to it's quick fragmentation.

It reliable, does massive damage, has good penetration and is readily available. For me, that checks all the boxes. After that it's all personal preference.
