i do find that the bass out of toledo do not taste as good as the bass down here. I actually stopped keeping bass from toledo cause I wouldn't eat it. I find it fishy could be I wait to long to eat them or our drunk asses never clean them good enough.

It's their diet. I notice they even have a much more potent smell to them. They feed very heavily on shad.

I feel this way about duck hunting too.

Years ago I was bass fishing and just releasing them as I did not really care to eat them. My MIL accused me of running around because I did not bring fish home. I told her I did not care for them. She said bring them home and she would cook them and guaranteed I'd like them. Next weekend I kept my 10 and brought home to clean. She cooked them up and they were delicious. I had to know what she did different because I'd never had bass so good. She laughed and told me to look in the fryer. She deep fried them in butter I told her she could batter my shoe up and deep fry it in butter an it would taste good.

Guides on the lake bad mouth the recreational fishermen for keeping a few bass with eggs, like its a sacrilege. Then they clean every bass their clients catch without batting an eye.
