That's your excuse? You eat Chinese food? I've never come across a dog that turned down anything it could chew on.

Last week I caught some nice sacs. We didn't catch many, maybe 18, but they were all nice. Also caught some big chinquapin. A few had eggs which is kind of early and the sacs all had eggs.

I understand releasing big fish, but people need to keep some bass.

First 10 pounder I catch, I'm mounting dat arse. If I run into a mess around 12-18 inches, they're hitting the grease. Anything in between I just hoist the shite out of em, snap a bunch of pics and hashtag my fat arse off clean across social media. Then let em get bigger me.
Don't get no better than that baw

One of the best fish to eat IMO.

Firm fillets, good for frying, sauces, grilling, broiling.

Cut the fat off and any blood and it's delicious.

I was in a market in Shanghai and they had several tanks of bass for customers to choose their fish from.

I wish sac a lait, bass and bream were available in supermarkets here from farms.

I rarely eat bass. I prefer just about anything else. I have zero issue with people keeping bass within the limits imposed. Having said that, I hate seeing bass over 3lbs being killed, but I really can't defend it.

Do you have a problem with people killing 140"+ deer?

In order to keep it that way, people need to catch and eat some of the fish. That's why the limits are established how they are. Pure catch and release fishing is not always (is it ever?) a good way to manage a body of water. So many fry are eaten every year or out competed for food that the amount of bass that fishermen pull from toledo is a small percentage. If you like eating bass, then keep them and eat them knowing full well you've done the lake no harm.

Now if we are talking about small ponds, this is an entirely different discussion and you need to consider 1. What you're managing the pond for (trophies? Quality fish? Numbers?) 2. What the current situation of the pond is 3. What time of the year it is, Etc...

ETA: Not to mention that putting bass in a live well and releasing them later in your cove definitely increases the mortality rate of this fish over ones that are immediately released. I'm on my phone so can't cite research right now but I'll come back later with links.

Bravo. i can't believe these 'trophy' fisherman are pissed at people keeping a few bass.

i do find that the bass out of toledo do not taste as good as the bass down here. I actually stopped keeping bass from toledo cause I wouldn't eat it. I find it fishy could be I wait to long to eat them or our drunk asses never clean them good enough. but it is my favorite fish along side sacalait . I through back anything over 3. I couldn't care less about people catching limits, but no reason to keep 5+lb fish just to "catch a limit". let that thing go.
