I use a 65 upfront as a fish box and it extends my front deck casting area (nautic star 1910). for most trips it's enough to hold my fish. I always bring ice in my boat fish box as an overflow if yeti overfills.

Jesus I bet you would need a forklift to move that 420 yeti

That's hard to say. Couple limits of specks shouldn't be a problem, but I wouldn't want that to be the only fish box on the boat.
Then what's the functionality of it? Not trying to be a dick, but I just can't fathom why people would waste money on those things.

Hinges won't break, it won't start cracking in a couple years after getting beat by the sun all summer if you use it every time you fish, the weight will stop it from sliding much in the boat, you can stand on it and be stable.
If you want an ice chest that you won't be picking up alone a lot and need it to stay mostly in one place and don't want to have to worry about shite breaking on it all the time, it's a good idea IMO.

All valid points. I still can't bring myself to buy one.

Neither can I. I'd get one if I had a bay boat or offshore boat that I was gonna keep an ice chest in but that's about it.

Their website says the 420 weighs 110lbs

To each his own. I have a 45 and it's fallen out of the back of my truck at 60mph on Hopedale highway and it didn't crack or break open, and 10 minutes later we drank cold beer out of it and they didn't blow up. I deer hunt in Alabama and we didn't have electricity at our camp forever, so it was nice to be able to put deer in there on day one and not have to worry about it anymore until I got back home to LA. That thing has held 4 quartered does before.
Those two were gifts. The 65 is the only one I bought for myself and I definitely get the most use out of it. I got the SeaDek pad for the top of it too and it's nice.
Inb4 tie down your shite.

I have a 65 pelican. I love that thing.
I have a rack that goes on the back of my Sequoia that it made the ride on last year to Longboat Key. The thing about the pelican that I like is that it has hard plastic handles. I chained it down with a lock on either side and didn't have to worry about any one stealing it. It held ice for almost the entire week we were there.

I've got a 50 quart k2 as my casting platform. More than enough room. I think they started making 30 qt cubes which would make a nice casting deck. I don't put fish in mine though. I have a 94 qt igloo marine that acts as the seat in front of my console that I use for a fish box. Only drinks in the k2.
And I didn't like the yeti tie down hardware. It sticks up too high if you don't have the ice chest on your front deck so I put in pup up cleats.

Yeah, but it comes with a 10% off coupon for back surgery.

I would say a 75 qt would be the best. I like the longer coolers for nilgai hams.

My 75 fits in the front of our 21ft Key west very nicely. Look at the dimensions and take measurements of your boat
