Whats the farthest you're willing to travel for a single morning hunt or fish?

I keep looking at the different lakes, NWRs and WMAs for new places to scout & hunt (or fish), and I'm looking at some that are longer range (2.5-3 hour drives).

Currently my max travel time rule is basically a 2 hr drive and then maybe an hour to get in and get set up. Past that and it's pretty tough to convince myself to go just to hunt/fish for a morning. What say you, OB?

I consistently drive ~2 hours to fish. I'd rather wake up 2 hours earlier and drive for 3 hours when I know for a fact I can catch fish rather than catch a couple more Z's to fish a place closer to home.

It depends on if I know their or birds or fish there. Obviously if I know they are there then I am willing to go much further.

I've done 2 hour ones often. I doubt I do them anymore unless I know for sure it's on.

i've driven 3.5 hours to Rockefeller Refuge, or Sabine Lake. I stay all day.

If just the morning, I'd go 1.5-2.0 hours.

Routinely drive 2-2.5 hours to shoot greenheads. Past that, maybe an hour for everything else.

Driven from Orlando to Miami/Biscayne Bay(275 miles) for bonefish & permit and back at end of day.

Once getting a permit, bone & snook same day was well worth it!!

Same. I kind of look at it as sitting until 10 am and being home for lunch.

I prefer to stay the whole weekend when possible.

It depends.

Do I get to spend the night there Friday night and hunt only Saturday morning? Or am I waking up Saturday morning and driving to my location?

I drive at least 2 to fish. Never drive over 1 to hunt.

2-2.5 normally it gets old quick though. I used to do it on the reg, but It all depends on the circumstance. I don't mind every now and then but not evey time. I dropped the lease I was in this past season for that reason.

If there's a good front and the local whore to mallard ratio is operating at or near DeWitt-ish levels, 6-7 hours.

Thankfully I only have to drive within an hour for all. Don't take that for granted for a second. I'd drive 2 or 3 hours for a special trip.

I'm probably spoiled but I would probably get back into hunting If I had to trailer more that 10 miles to fish, much less for a day.

BR sucks as far as driving. Luckily I hunt 15 minutes away (from parents) and my buddy just moved close to Sabine NWr so I'll have a place to stay for a few days there.

I've got the treadwear, GPA, and insufficient funds receipts to prove it
