re: Baton Rouge Zoo - Shut it down
Posted by Bass_Man on 10/21/18 at 5:50 pm
We took my kids to boo at the zoo today. I’m not saying it’s great, but it’s not as terrible as everybody on here makes it out to be.
The New Orleans zoo is better, but frick driving to New Orleans every time you want to take the kids to do a little something. ...
re: Time vs Money: what's your balance
Posted by Bass_Man on 10/18/18 at 11:22 am
I think about the same question all the time. The older I get the more I realize all the trivial superficial crap doesn’t matter.
Personally I would take time over money any day of the week, but that’s just me. No matter how much money you have you can’t buy the time you’ve lost back.

I’ll go ahead and mention a little tip since nobody has yet. If you freeze the cream cheese first it doesn’t run out of the meat all over the place while cooking. ...

You could grill it on the pit. Since the fish likely doesn’t have scales just put it on aluminum foil.
Make a sauce with butter, lemon juice and zest and garlic. I like to add a little hot sauce and Worcestershire to mine also. I score the fish then baste with sauce and grill.
There are other c...
re: Is Hot Tails in New Roads worth the drive?
How does Hot Tails compare to Morel's? That has been one of our go to's when not cooking
I like Hot Tails I go there for lunch a lot, but personally I like Morel’s better.
They have some decent specials at Morel’s most of the time.

re: Where does redneck meet cajun in Louisiana?
Posted by Bass_Man on 9/27/18 at 4:55 pm
I can agree with that I’d say it’s more mixed heritage. There are people that get butt hurt about it, but there is nothing Cajun about Baton Rouge.
In fact Cajun is a way overused term in Louisiana. There are only a hand full of places that are truly Cajun. ...
what do people consider BR area?
Everybody has there own opinions about this subject. I can tell you this much, I see far more Italian last names in the Baton Rouge area in general than Cajun ones. This is pretty much evident in the fact you can find far better Italian food than Ca...

re: Fellow OB’era with U shaped houses, what have you done with your courtyard area?
Posted by Bass_Man on 9/22/18 at 11:39 am
I find it works better with a carport open to the area rather than a garage. Then you can cover it and get some better air flow. My current house has the U shape and personally I’m not a huge fan. I’d much rather a longer patio that runs the length of the house.

re: Why is camo so expensive?
Posted by Bass_Man on 9/19/18 at 4:11 pm
Maybe it’s just me, but out of all the things camo related. I can find justification in spending a bit more for something like a good jacket. :dunno: I’m talking about a good jacket that’s actually water proof, not talking about drake stuff. ...
