House use 2 or 3 times a year. driveways, sidewalks, wood fence, wood and brick siding, dirt dobber nests. Also what kind of tip(s) should I get?

Any brand to avoid (ie going the harbor frieght route?)

I got a Generac 3100 psi, 2.7 gpm a few years ago.

It has served me well for all of those things you mentioned.

The black tip will cut your wood fence in half like a hot knife through butter. Speaking from experience.

I've got the Ryobi 2800 psi @ 2.3 gpm and it does all that you need. About tree fiddy at Home Depot.

I have an old 2,000 PSI that does fine for all of that. The only pain I have with it is the sidewalk and driveway. I probably need a new attachment or tip for it, but I just don't bother with the driveway anymore. The sidewalk, deck, brick, and other uses, it is fine for. I did have my driveway pressure washed by the crew that painted my house a few years ago. They pressure washed the entire house (well, the brick part) after they were done to get rid of any drippings from their painting, and then the driveway. I've never seen concrete so white, but they had some massive washer on big wheels and one of those big round head that rolled around on the ground. So if you're going to be doing driveways, get something like that. Otherwise, just the basic one with an adjustable tip is fine.

FWIW, those push sweeper attachments you can rent require something like 3000psi IIRC. I've seen them leave stripes when used with an underpowered pressure washer.

I got a free one from Northern Tool that has been decent, and a bigger one from LINK

As far as tips, get a 5-pack

No clue on the pressure rating of mine, it works for what I need out of it.

This thing in a huge time saver. LINK

The GPM is just as if not more important than PSI FWIW.
Also most folks never change tips.

What the industry uses now is something called cleaning units (CU). It is psi x gpm. Gpm kinda washes faster and psi washes harder, so they combine the two to get the CU

I use a Karcher 3k psi @ 2.5 gpm (Honda powered) power washer (10 yrs old). I have > 2500 ft2 of driveway, sidewalks, and patio to clean (also brick, a picnic table, a boat, tractors, etc.). You can't clean pavement with the spray heads that come with the pressure washer. No Way. At best it will look like zebra stripes. I use a Karcher 12" round pavement cleaner attachment that works very well. Mine is all metal and was 3 or 4 hundred bucks. It has a twirling wand inside with 2 nozzles. You can buy cheaper plastic ones for under $100 (Home Depot, Lowes, etc). They won't last as long. My 2 cents.

I have the Homelite Model #UT80522G & it works great....2700 psi, starts easily & available at Home Depot.

DON'T BUY AN ELECTRIC PRESSURE WASHER!!!!!!
