I like history too.

Doesn't change the fact that a minie ball is not a hollow point.

Gatling Gun changed everything.

Soon after it was introduced the Maxim Machine Gun was introduced. It changed everything.

Yeah, it's actually hollow base. Not hollow point.

If you stop and think about it, most advancements in firearms revolutionized warfare to some degree.

Smokeless powder was huge.
The self contained cartridge. - huge

The flintlock- huge.

there woul dbe no machine gun without the cartridge bullet. I think that invention defined the gun itself.

Definitely copper jacketing in combination with rifling. and also the switch from iron to steel for barrels.

Relied on self-contained cartridges to be feasible. No other development allowed for the rapid progression in small arms technology.

The minie ball has identical results as a hollow point when it is shot into a human.

I actually agree it was the self-contained cartridge. But, that book is fairly interesting.

I'm not sure if this is a clip/magazine thing, but you can buy hollow point miniballs.
