re: How much practice would it take for one to shoot well enough to hit a mass - Bagger Joe
I shot 90 on the state law enforcement test
90% or 90 points? The La POST handgun qualification test has a max of 120 points with a minimum of 96 to pass. And you don't go "out" to 25 yards. You start at 25 and move in. ...

I agree with Buck on that. But if time is an issue, I think you will get frustrated with a hand loader. Even a single stage press would be more efficient. ...

re: Spinoff: Best Advice for New Reloaders? (Current Handloaders) - Bagger Joe
Wow! When upgrade said a scooper, that's immediately what I thought of but haven't seen one of those in years! I had the Lee Loader for 38 Special also! Man, that's been a long time ago. I don't remember having any issues with it. If your looking to just reload to plink, that's a great alternative. ...
measure that powder charge by volume
How are you measuring by volume? Are you talking about using a scoop of some type or just eyeballing it in the brass? As long as you weighed it to begin with and its within the acceptable range, I don't see an issue with it unless you are using...
if you load handguns rounds in bulk through carbide dies, lube isn't necessary
This is true. I only use carbide dies in my machine but I have found that just a little lube makes the machine cycle smoother. Bare in mind that I am using a progressive, so I have 4 rounds cycling at o...

re: Spinoff: Best Advice for New Reloaders? (Current Handloaders) - Bagger Joe
A lot of good advice here. Guess I'll add my 2 cents. I load pistol rounds, so these are kind of geared toward that. Always load for quality and not quantity. Yes, my Dillon is fast, but I want consistent loads. Slow down and get them right. Pay attention to what you are doing and don't get ...
Have not seen a shortage at all on primers.
I should have said that I'm peculiar about primers and only like Federal Small Pistol. Match when I can find them and 'regular' when I can't but haven't found any lately. Good score on the Bullseye. I have about 8 pounds of HP-38/W231...
I need to pick up a chronograph any suggestions?
I got a Shooting Chrony (M1, I think) on Ebay for less than $100. It does all I need it to do. Checked it against a friends much more expensive chrono and it was +/- 3-5 fps which is good with me. The model I have is the F1. ...

I also have a Dillon 550 and load pistol rounds for competition. 9mm and 38 Special. Just went out this past Saturday and chronoed a new 9mm load. I enjoy the process of working up a new round but once I find one I like, I stay with it. Having problems finding primers right now. Have about 800 l...

re: Should LSU Be Able to See Beer at Athletic Events? - Bagger Joe
I always thought it was interesting that when the east upper deck and suites were built at Tiger Stadium, the SEC rule was no alcohol in the stadium so the new structure was built free standing and does not actually touch the stadium. That's how they get away with alcohol in the suites. I don't know...
