Took my new Kayak on her maiden voyage (mini review)

I've had the Feel Free lure 13.5 for 5 or 6 weeks now but haven't been able to take it out, it's all good though because I just finished making the modifications I wanted and getting the lowrance mounted.
1) This is a heavy beast of a kayak. I've got a Yakima rack with J cradles...yea that isn't happening. At 94 pounds and 36 inches wide, this thing is not getting car topped on its side by one person. I took the J cradles off and with the help of the load assist bar was able to top it flat onto some foam pads I'd put on the bars.
2) this kayak takes a few power strokes to get up to speed but it glides well. To be expected from one this wide.
3) The seat is as advertised. Simply awesome
4) Same goes for the stability. I could stand up and turnaround with ease and never felt shaky standing up. Feel like I could throw a cast net off of it.
5) the sonar pod is great. I just put a little silicone on the inside where I drilled the holes for the transducer, put some sponges on top of that for "just in case" cut a piece of hard plastic to lay over the sponges (there pod has a lip so plastic isn't touching sponges), and had room for my battery and all the cables to sit on the plastic piece.
6) all-in-all seems like it will be great for lake and bay fishing, would not recommend for guys that fish the river a lot
7) ample room for dry storage and a huge standing platform. The stern storage is about an inch too narrow to fit my Pelican 35 cooler
Yes, this is my dogs couch now, she claimed it by ripping it to shreds

Nice looking yak rigged right. Be careful if that transducer is lowest point of the yak.

It's not, there's a recessed port that keeps it from bumping or scraping anything

Nice setup. Where'd you take it? I took my yak on it's maiden voyage in the LSU lakes. So undignified. It never let me forget. The stank was still on it when I sold it four years later.

I've got the J cradles for when I'm hauling two. With $230 invested there I won't be changing
It's fine then because I have someone to help me load it. When I'm going solo thought I have to haul it flat on the foam pads and use the load bar assist. At 79$ it's a damn ripoff but it works and it's a necessity

Leaf River. I wasn't really fishing hard, just wanted to get it wet

Very nice boat, looks extremely comfortable.
I used to live by that motto back in the day.

Was it a one way trip or is the current slow enough to head back upstream?

I stuck close to the ramp. Water was too swift for me to do anything else.
I'm not a big river fisherman but it's right by my house and I wanted to test everything out

I thought it was normally strong; I cross it near McLain every now and then and it usually looks to swift to paddle upstream.

With practice you can get that yak up with ease. Mines about the same weight and I get mine up on the yukon with ease

I love their seats but was always curious if they held any water after getting wet?

Any pics of where the transducer is recessed underneath? Is that an Elite 5? If so I take it that its big enough to fit the HDI transducer.

Get that bar that looks like a ski pole....it fits in your Yakima Round Bar and slides out.
You pull it out....then load bow on bar..while stern is on ground.....then lift stern on top of car.....may be worth the money.
