I wonder if P&P recently quit carrying them? I know for sure I've looked at them there before and want to say when I stopped by in June they had models on display.

First thing to figure out before buying kayak is to figure out what type of fishing you will be doing most. I bought an Ascend FS128T and it tracked horribly. Sold it and bought a Hobie Outback w/mirage drive. Has the sailing rudder and I just did the Jackson Coosa seat mod. Great yak but not the best for shallow river applications. At 65# it portage better than some, but you definitely don't want to have to paddle far. Just hope the mirage drive doesn't break while on the water.

OP: nice rig. Why not go with a 11.5? Also most guys I know that fish from the lure just use a trailer.

Maybe I should call and talk to someone else, the girl on the phone was having a tough time with my demo requests. She admitted she doesn't deal with the kayaks much.

I wanted the versatility of the 13.5

I mostly fish inshore bays and in lakes, but every so often I like to go out in the gulf. Felt like the 13.5 would be more fit for handling the gulf than the 11.5

I drive a car so can't trailer it. It isn't hard to car top flat with the load assist bar though when I'm flying solo

My old Ascend was a SOB to get on top of my Jeep after paddling all day.

Yea I can't do it without the load assist bar. My height and strength combination just doesn't work for something that heavy and cumbersome. The kayak is heavier at the back so I can't just grab the handles in the center and muscle it up.

Called feelfree and they gave me a quick call back. They did not say whether or not Pack and Paddle stopped carrying them but said to call and check with their kayak guy to see if they have any in stock.

They also said Massey's in New Orleans for sure carries them. Do yall know if they rent out their kayaks?

I believe they do, but maybe only rent certain brands/models so Feel Free might not be available to rent. I think they'll do the free Saturday demos like P&P does though. If you call P&P ask to speak to Eli or Scott, I think they're the kayak dudes over there.

It is. Someone asked about the seat retaining water...it does not

Found this out the hard way. Getting out of the kayak to throw the cast net in Biloxi back bay wasn't the best idea. Sank to my thighs in muck and ended up with a wet arse

I could easily throw it from the kayak though, so that was nice.

Oxygen bottle for my bait.

Much more life than D batteries required for an aerator, and it makes live bait act like they've been on a caffeine binge.

This was my first time using it and my gosh what a difference in pure oxygen and using an aerator. The bait was going crazy, I didn't lose one finger mullet, and they stayed alive on the hook until something ate them. Between a regulator and diffuser stone there's a high up front cost (~100$) but it works so much better than an aerator at keeping bait alive and frisky

If anyone is interested I can give you part numbers on what I used for the setup.

I don't use live bait often in the kayak. The Mr. Bubbles or whatever works fine when I do.

How do you get pure oxygen? I thought it was highly regulated.

Anyone can get oxygen from a welding supply store. It's the medical (USP) grade that is regulated

Good for a hangover too

Last time I had surgery I came out from under anesthesia with oxygen tubes in my nose. Holy shite that was awesome. I want that.

The more I think about it the more interested I'm getting. 1) How much does it cost to fill up that tank? 2) How often do you have to refill it?

You can usually find an oxygen tank that size (20 cubic feet) at a pawn shop or flea market. Buying one from the welding supply store will run you 60-80 to buy the tank and then 5-10 to swap it for a full when it runs out. I'll get about 75-80 hours of life from that tank running at 1/8 liter per minute, more if I run it at 1/16 or 1/32 lpm.

I did a test run with it to ensure my diffuser worked right and ran it for about an hour, then ran it for 6 hours Saturday. My tank still reads full
