I cooked them at the camp

also, when i bring people hunting i usually just let them take all the ducks

Thanks mapguy. I always hung by the rear legs I guess that's why it didn't make sense.

you can still get the tenderloins without gutting by hanging from the rear legs

if you had to drag it 2 miles, via cart or otherwise, you would gut it.

If I can drive the 4 wheeler right up to a deer, i won't gut it until i have to clean it.

I hang from rear legs
skin deer
cut out backstrap
cut off front shoulders
get tenderloins out
remove neck
saw backbone just below hind quarter and let carcass fall in bucket

No need to saw anything. You can cut around the back bone around the hind quarters

thats what i do too, the guts will just hang while you quarter the deer.

the guys we hunt with in mississippi debone the deer while it's hanging

one of the processors we use in Ms prefers for us to bring the deer in whole.

he skins it for $20 and debones it off the carcass.

The ones up here won't take them unless they are whole. The opposite of down in SLA I believe. Skin, gut, let hang for a week to age the meat, then process. They turn you around at the door if you show up with quartered deer meat.

we left a gutted whole deer carcass in a cooler at an alabama ranch for 3 weeks..

that deer meat was awesome!
