On Facebook, we will never have a population of good deer until this stupid redneck/coonass mentality of dropping everything that walks. Everyday these 40 year old men are holding up first and second year baby bucks LOOK AT ME I GOT ONE.

SAD

Cut them some slack, just because you don't consider it a trophy does not make it not one.

When I moved from Adams County to the Pine Belt it took me a season to get used to the 10 inch wide 6 points being driven around on display till I realized those were likely the biggest deer they had ever seen and I was not countish enough to be "that guy" rain on their parade.

Sort of agree. But some people take that trophy shite too far. It's just a deer. Hell, the 4pt might be some 40yo's first deer ever. You never know. But I think posting the spoils of your hunt on FB for likes is lame from the getgo.

As much as I would love to shoot some huge horns, I hunt to put meat in my freezer. Now I'm letting 4 and 6 points walk bc we are trying to get some nice deer at the same time but some ppl may be hunting public land. Public land you take what you can get.

Same here. We’ve pretty much quit shooting spikes unless we have a friend hunt that rarely gets to go. Then he gets a green light.

Meat for the freezer comes first and then we hunt for fun.

Meh

None of that bothers me

What does make me chuckle is when people refuse to shoot does as if they are inferior

It’s mainly old people. They will see 20 does and won’t shoot but first spike that comes out is toast

Or some only have a small portion of land to hunt and are happy to even see deer. Haven’t gotten a buck at all the past 4-5 seasons with the flooding events messing up our rut, I would be excited to even SEE a buck not at night on camera

ETA: you wouldn’t see me posting it on Facebook though

Until we quit letting greedy idiots hunt deer with a rifle for 2 months, we’ll never have a quality herd.

We need more rules and more game wardens.

30-60 years ago when many of us learned to hunt there weren’t as many deer, and shooting does was a no-no because you wanted the population to increase. Also, in some places it was against the law to shoot does.

Old habits die hard.

I won’t shoot a small buck, but it’s still hard for me to pull the trigger on any doe except a big one.

Edit: I will shoot 2.5+ year old spikes to get them out of the breeding population.

If your group wants to trophy hunt, fine. If others hunt to be in the outdoors and bring home some meat, fine also. If you are hunting private land, follow the rules you want. If adjoining landowners want to come to an agreement, great. Just because you want to kill trophies does not give you a say so over others. The obsession with scores and points has gotten out of hand. I have seen in our area several lessees get on a serious management plan, only to have their landowner after several years of "letting them walk", kick them off for big money interests. It is just a damn deer afterall.

I'm pretty triggered. These dudes got meat and I don't.

Are you in a club with these guys? Does their club border y'all? If no, why do you care about someone killing legal deer that doesn't affect you.

Look at me, I only shoot "trophy deer" and criticize people that don't hunt like me.
