I hope the 500 is for all the parts for a compete PSA rifle. If just the lower, that's a massive rip off.

Why? They don't answer my questions and they're not enlightening me to why you think backup iron sights are so necessary?

You're dead battery argument is invalid and saying "what if the scope gets knocked off zero" is just a weak "what if" scenario to back up your weak argument that backup iron sights are necessary.

If your scopes get knocked off zero that easily you need to spend a little more $ and buy a better quality optic. Preferably one that doesn't require batteries for you to look through.

$2k buys a lot of batteries. I don't find myself driving my guns over in tanks or shooting them so I don't see myself needing the indestructibility of an ACOG. They are great optics no doubt. Personally I don't like the fixed 4x magnification.

If I were going to spend 500 on a lower I'd just get any stripped lower (it's nothing but a hunk of metal) for less than a hundred bucks then spend a couple hundred on a good trigger group. I think you can get more for your money for 500 personally.

I'm doing a "from scratch" build (on the lower, anyway) - a quick budget:

Stripped lower: ~$100 (really $90)

LPK minus trigger: $25 to $50

Trigger: $65 (ALG) up to $280

Grip (Magpul): $10

Handguards Magpul): $30

Buffer assembly: $60 to $120

Stock: $30 to $120

So, $700 would be the ceiling with few compromises - a heavy buffer and high end trigger for a lower. At the lower end, even with an upgrade from a few mil-spec parts, you could be $320 to $360 for a complete lower, from scratch.

(If you're willing to take all mil-spec parts in the LPK, including trigger, you could even shave $20 to $30 bucks off that bottom line price, maybe even a little more if you really did a lot of shopping and waited for sales.)

I'm not talking specifically about ACOG. I'm also talking about the $350 redfield and $650 vortex.

I'm rough on stuff, guns, vehicles, and women. I've never knocked a quality scope off of zero.

What are you guys putting these batteries into is my question? A simple red dot? The only optics I own that require batteries to be functional are red dots on my pistols, and they cowitness with the factory sights so they're really just there for additional help with quick aiming.

How many of you have knocked a quality scope off zero?

Meh, you have to turkey neck so bad to use the RMR that you never want to use it.

VCOG and Elcan Specter have knocked off the ACOG

Replace that grip with one by ergogrips. Very nice.

I replaced my trigger with a one that Ruger just came out with. $150.

If you need to use your reflex sight instead of the ACOG you don't need a good stockweld. It's an excellent feature.

Before you buy any sights or optics, check out 45 degree sights.

Its a great setup with a good scope on the top for long shots and easy and fast to transition to the iron sigts for close range.

Why not just get a variable zoom scope (vortex 1-4x or the new 1-6x) or one of the ones equal in price to an acog. They are rather beefy and would be a bit more practical to almost all situations guys around here would encounter.

Your questions have been answered. Don't blame me for the fact that you can't seem to understand the answers. If you can't see what I'm talking about there's nothing I can do for you.

I appreciate it, but I started there. By the time I pay my local FFL $25, that gets to $70 for a blem, plus tax - I paid him $90 for a non-blem, out the door.
