I'm going tomorrow to either of these places and have never been fishing for redfish or trout in Louisiana however I have in North Carolina. I'm going in a kayak, which place is better for kayak fishing where I won't have to paddle too far? Any suggestions?

I pulled some trout and reds out of PAC over the weekend on a falling tide. The water was stained more than I like and I only caught on dead shrimp under cork. Lots of nice sized crabs being caught off Island Road.

I don't know Shell Beach but Delacroix is the hot spot in that area. Lots and lots and lots and lots of snot grass. If you don't like paddling or fishing grass, don't go. However, tons of reds and bass to be had. You can pretty much tie on a gold spoon and leave everything else at home.

Thanks for the tips. I don't mind paddling like in and out of the grass just don't want to have to paddle like a few miles to get there.
I'm used to using topwater or a jig head with a grub but I may try a spoon, or live bait. Thanks!

Why? I just moved here that's why I've never been. But I've been for years where I used to live

Ah. Well that is a different story. From your post I thought you were in town for a few days and thinking about just putting in and fishing. If you have been paying attention and learning a little about the areas that is a completely different scenario. Shell Beach has been more hit than miss lately, especially around paddling distance. Sorry for the miscommunication.

Haha well I may give it a try early in the morning. Have you been catching them consistently?

Are you current on your OB Member's Fishing Map dues?

1) PAC Marina - end of 665
2) Isle de Jean Charles - end of Island Rd
3) PAC WMA Boat Launch off 665 - East side of 665, not recommended
4) PAC WMA Boat Launch off Island Rd - North side of Island Rd about 0.5 mile from turning onto Island Rd

First cast out of a yal was in PAC. Caught a red. I love that place for redfishing. Easy paddle for reds. About a 3 mile paddle and you can get to a spot I used to fish in my flats boat that I consistenly caught 25" reds.

Any minute now there will be at least 2 posters talking shite on Bobby Boucher's cockroach infested motel at the PAC marina.

Damn good redfishing around there, and I've always caught some HUGE flounder on the edges of the main channel.

I went to Delacroix last weekend. Reds are scattered but not hard to find. The black drum are thick as hell. Never caught so many in one day before.

So you would recommend the pac marina at the end of 665?
