Dude thanks so much I appreciate it a lot!! I've got everything set to go just need to get some shrimp just to be sure early in the morning, I'm getting up at 330 since its like a 2.5 hour drive

No, actually I don't fish there much at all. I spent my first year of fishing inshore focused on one area (Golden Meadow). I then expanded to Delacroix but that is kind of a one trick pony for kayaks. PAC north of Island Rd is actually the first place I caught fish inshore on the regular but then they started dredging. I'm looking for a new 2hr spot so if you have any PAC kayak tips, send them my way.

If you can hold out until tide falls, you should have a lot better luck.

I always had luck in the circle right across the bayou from the marina. Can also head back up in the direction of arrow 2. There's some really shallow marsh on the right. And about 2 miles up you can take a bayou to the right and get in some really brackish water that holds big reds.

Top waters, and weedless inline spinners have always been my go-to for reds, I've thrown spoons and know people praise them and I've tried as well but I've never actually caught a red on a spoon. I've only been to PAC once and just caught one. Fish grass lines and points, especially where there's a little current moving with the tide.

If this is your first time to an area don't be bummed if you skunk. It'll happen when learning new places, hell it still happens to me in places I fish often.

Good to hear. I don't know if you got my vibe earlier in the thread, but I was trying to say... wait till later in day for falling tide (and higher angle sun). However, I know most like early AM in summer to beat the heat.

What'd you catch?

Bonus Tip: I've been burned many times trying to buy market/fresh or frozen shrimp. They are either out, don't last, are small, fall off, etc etc etc. I found that I can go and buy $5 of frozen head on shrimp from a grocery the night before. $5 is usually near a pound so I split up into quart zip lock bags. I add a little water to the bags and freeze overnight. I bring a couple bags every time I'm not in a non-bait tourney. I can thaw one quickly by adding water and letting sit in sun on my yak. Even if I decide not to use or pickup fresh shrimp, I'm only out a couple of bucks and a lot of times, the ice block stays frozen around shrimp and I can take home to refreeze and use another day.
