Rage Hypodermic Broadhead Reviews

Anyone used the rage hypodermics yet?
I recently shot an 8 pt with them an it broke (shaft of broadhead above where it screws in) near the shock collar after going through the rib cage. There was no exit wound. It looked like it broke before it could make an exit wound. When I cleaned the deer the broken broadhead was in the cavity of the deer. Luckily I found the deer but the blood trail wasn't that good and he ran about 150 yds before he dropped. Deer was hit right behind the front shoulder while he was broadside. He may have been slightly quartering to me but just a little. Entrance wound was big as always with the rages.
I never had this trouble with the normal rages. Was just wondering if anyone heard any negative feedback on the web with them?

Shot rages had problems. Now I shoot the ole 3 blade muzzy 100 grain. They fly just as good as rages.

I can't speak for the hypodermic but I've been shooting the old rage titanium 2 blades for years. I just put new blades and go. I've killed dozens of deer and hogs with the same 3 broadheads. I looked at the hypodermic but I really don't like the blade angle when deployed. I don't think it's swept back enough. That's just my opinion, that angle may not mean a damn thing but that's what has kept me from buying them.

I've never had problems with the original rages and have shot over 10 deer with them.
The hypodermics are a little different design than the originals.

I shot a chisel tip rage extreme 2.3" this weekend and it made a clean pass through, huge hole, and resulted in a 12 yard tracking job.
one of the blades did break when the arrow hit an iron ore rock in the dirt.

I went 18-0 with those muzzys before I started hunting with a recurve.

IF something is mechanical, it will fail. It's just a matter of time.

I have been a fan of rage since they came out. However i bought a pack of hypodermics and killed a deer with each of the 3 but didnt get a pass through on any. Had a massive blood trail on one and minimal blood on another but no pass through. Dead is dead but i like the original rage better. I now shoot g5 havoc. No issues thus far with them.

I have shot rage for years. Only shoot regular style have not heard good reviews on the hypodermic.
Has anyone used the NAP Killzone?

The metal is what failed. Not the blade system or the way it opens.
I'm sure it can happen but I have had better luck since I started shooting rages. Even some of the ok shots have brought them down. In the past, this didn't happen with the fixed broadheads I used. Or maybe I just learned to shoot better with experience.

Killed my first bow deer with Rage Hypodermic. I made the switch to Rage Xtreme but my dad uses the Hype
Only issue I've had was a blade broke off somewhere inside the deer. She didn't go but 100yds though. I can not fathom switching from the Xtreme
ETA: IMO the Rage Hypo blade angles are too extreme. It allows for the broadhead to be more compact but you get a steep cut angle to achieve that 2" cut

I used NAP kill zone the last 2 years. Good heads that essentially copy the Rage design. The bolt that holds the blades in the head is of thinner diameter than that in the rage. It also is not flush mounted with an internal locking allen head screw like the rage and is instead a very small hex head bolt and nut. I found that removing the bolt and nut was more difficult on the NAP than on the Rage.
I have also not been able to locate replacement blades for the NAP killzone.
I do find that the NAP killzone fits better into my quiver than the Rage as the head is a bit longer on the tip and has a smooth taper. My only complaint with the chisel tip rage extreme I am now shooting is that the tip is not smooth and can get caught in the quiver as you are pulling it out.

Broken blades were common when they first came out. They have switched to a stamped blade and it appears to have solved the issue.
Because of the blade angle, I wouldn't consider Hypos unless I was shooting a speed bow. I wouldn't recommend them with any less than 80lbs of KE and any arrow lighter than 400 grains.

Oh, forgot to mention on the NAP killzone, I shot a turkey in the neck at 17 yards last fall and the blades fully deployed as they should from that minimal contact.
take that fwiw.

I think I'm going to switch to the Xtreme. The design seems to be more solid. I do like the new shock collar design compare to the old O-rings.
