In fairness, the guy didn't check his broadheads and the blades were bound, so that's on him. I would imagine that if you check the heads to make sure they moved freely, then the chance of one not deploying would be akin to winning the lottery.

Not to jump in on yalls pissing match.....lol, but what failed on your fixed blade head and which one was it?

I've had Slick Trick blades break a couple of times.

Blades shattered one one. This was '85. I can't recall model. An aluminum ferrule crimped up like aluminum foil on another. Again, very long ago. I would bet neither is even made any longer. I've used Rocket heads so long it's hard for me to remember all the fixed I used before. I still keep Muzzy and Thunderheads in my box. Great for pigs when I don't want to ruin the blades on my Rockets.

gotcha. makes sense. I remember old school heads of all types were kinda junk. Muzzy has been my particular fav over the years of jumping around to different heads..... seems like I always come back to Muzzy. Also have G5 Montec heads that have multiple kills.

Some companies tried to make the blades too light. Too many cut outs.

No doubt they cut corners on quality.

Well yea, I would assume so. But those channel locks arent .035" thick either.

So are you arguing mechanical failure due to moving parts or structural material failure due to thickness of blade, which btw is the same thickness and material found on fixed blades?

That's pretty sweet. I like how compact that ferrule is.

Both would be considered a failure to me. And yes, I never said fixed broadheads arent susceptible to blades breaking. Muzzy MX3, NAP Thunderheads, etc all use .035" blades, the same as Killzones and all of the Rages. Being as that the blades on a fixed are much lower profile and are typically a right triangle with the 90 deg edge inbedded in the ferrule, they are able to absorb that impact more efficiently even though they are the same thickness.

What is not arguable and is ironically constantly being argued however, is that it's not impossible for a mechanical broadhead to fail due to moving parts as in failing to deploy or deploying prematurely, or the ferrule bending/breaking/cracking or the blades breaking/bending on impact. That's all Im saying, that no one can speak in absolutes.

To sum up - All broadheads are capable of failure no matter the design or material. Some are more susceptible than others.
