the Rages have been know to bounce off bone when the angle of the shot is less than ideal. All the stores are sold out of them though.
That said, when you use a mechanical blade you increase greatly the number of things that can go wrong with your shot. Get a good fixed blade broadhead and take all those variables out of the equation.

IF something is mechanical, it will fail. It's just a matter of time.

Am I the only one that's weirded out by the word "hypodermic?"

How so?

actually the failures of the mechanicals, the rage in particular, are well documented.

Sometimes, I think you just have it out for me.

how do you like hunting with a recurve? it's always intrigued me. anything real different about it? do you need to practice a lot more?

I might be a tad m bare assed to say how many deer I've killed with spitfires, since they were invented,, and interestingly enough,, none of these "mechanical variables" that you type of, have ever taken place. Are you speaking of your own experiences,, or, from "what you've read"?

I saw a Rage fail LAST YEAR that did not hit the ground. It hit bone and broke a blade. Also, you cant shoot them at a target. I know they have practice heads, but if you dont have that, you cant shoot your broadheads at a target.
And what are you talking about shot placement for?

Short side option. Pitch dive. Madonna headset. Stares down receiver. Throws off back foot. Favors seniors. 50's offense.

Well to be fair, a mechanical head is more likely to have mechanical problems than a non-mechanical head. That isn't debatable.
