I hate these threads.

When my childhood golden was taking a turn for the worse, she'd only eat muffins, so I remember my mom making muffins every day for weeks.

I feel for you.

Very sad. Goldens are such wonderful dogs, and great companions.

Good luck, have done the same thing. Feed him well beforehand, and lots of love and hugs.

Had to put down my little buddy Ivan about 2yrs ago. Worst thing I've ever done. He was a corgi and was my right hand man. The smartest coolest dog I've ever owned. He developed lymphoma at the age of 2.5, put him down at 3. Vet was crying too! She said it neve happened to dogs that age.

Our 9 year old chessie died from DM last year about this time.... was glad she went in her sleep.....

had to make that call twice.... both times from being hit by a car....

two of the toughest things I have had to do in life....was the right thing both times.. just tough..

Mine had congestive heart failure when she was 11 and died in my arms. I cried like a baby. My kids rode her like a horse, and the neighborhood kids used to come to the door to ask if she could come out and play. What a great dog. I feel the pain you're feeling.

yes...

He doesn't like football enough to be there on saturdays... and the season usually runs into his favortie time of the year...

people keep asking him to play football(parents of other players )

and I have a good friend who is a coach at another school that can't comprehend that he doesn't want to play fb...

but hunting and fishing win hands down....

I'll probably have to do this to my 12 y.o. black lab in the next year. God, I hate doing this.
