we are be gouged big time in the Gadsden AL area. a wk ago you could buy a Ruger 10/22 for $225.00.
A buddy of mine is looking for one for his son for chritmas every place he has call has raised the price by $100 to $200. One store wanted $499.00 for a simple 10/22 carbine.

are yall seeing the prices increase in your area this fast and this high?

Bowie Outfitters has rasie dtheir prices on AR type weapons and acc. Only on certian things. I looked at lowers on 11/5/2012 that were 250. Now they want 450, but say they added a new tigger. I looked closer and it was the same trigger as before...

That shite pisses me off. Raise the prices if you want but dont lie to me. I called Bowies yesterday asking for a price on a suppressor and their price wasnt too high but higher than other places. I cant even get Jims to answer the phone so they can go sit on a bedpost.

Landry's will get all of my class 3 business in the future. A 5 minute phone call convinced me of that yesterday.

I agree about the lying but can't say I blame them about raising prices. It's the nature of the beast in the business world and these guys are trying to make a living

One thing I'm definitely taking away from this time is a list of businesses that will not be getting any more of my money. I'll waste their time and use them like a showroom, but will purchase elsewhere.

Yea I'd be doing the same thing. And this isn't like generators during a hurricane (which arguably isn't that bad either, they're not a necessity, but I digress), but these are just things people want right now. It's not like their kids will starve if they can't buy that AR right now. Market value is what it's worth. If people are willing to pay twice as much for it all of a sudden then that's what it's worth. IMO.

How do you differentiate free market pricing from price gouging?

Free to own firearms but the biz owner not free to adjust prices to market demand?

If I owned a gun store, I'd be gouging the shite out of the AR stuff. The majority of people buying that stuff are doing it b/c it's the "cool" thing to get right now.

Yeah I hate it but that's how the free market works.

This. If people dont have to buy it to live their normal lives (gas, milk, water) then they are free to price it however they think they can maximize their profits (thats why they sell them to begin with - profits) If you feel they have unfairly raised prices, then its your choice not to purchase that item until prices go down or to purchase from another business.

They do have the freedom to raise prices. We also have the freedom to not shop from them ever again. I may get my ffl and put his arse outta business. I may feel different if I hadn't supported the business so well for years.

I don't jack up the price of office visits during a flu epidemic, so f$%k'em all.

Bought a Marlin 795 about a week before all this crap. Tried to buy some extra magazines for it yesterday and CCI mini-mag and no one in Baldwin or Mobile county had any.

Finally found a gun shop that had one magazine left but academy, bass pro, dicks, wal-mart were all out.

People are going crazy right now.
