I traded my 07 Chevy in for a Toyota on New Year's Eve. It had 165k miles and started using at least an extra quart between changes towards the end. I never did anything to the truck other than normal maintenance, so I can't complain.

It was paid off and I got 10k on trade-in for it when I was going to be happy to get 6k for it.

Mine is a Tahoe but its a 04 Z71, 186K miles. Put a water pump on it at 125K and a transmission at 130K. Other than that, its been perfect...

I tow a boat every day with it so I was not too pissed about the transmission.

The best thing about this vehicle, I got 125K on it before I ever had to touch the brakes. Still have only don one brake job on it and the thing is great on tires. I got over 75K out of my first two sets of tires... Never got that kind of wear on any vehicle

Fuel milage sucks and it does burn about one quart between changes.

Same thing for me on my 07 Silverado. Amazing.

In the old days (as in 20 years ago) a truck that didn't use a quart of oil between changes brand new was an anomaly.

Have you looked for leaks and shite??? Could always be something as simple as a loose line to the oil cooler.

I've had no problems but using oil
It has to do with fuel management system when it runs on 4 cylinders but getting 8 cylinder oil flow and carbon build up on pistons.
NADA says I can get $18k on trade in

I will take two guesses.

1)It's a 5.3.

2)GM said that amount of oil-consumption was "normal".

I guess I need to start naming all the Ford problems I have to work on every day.
All Brands have vehicles that will have problems.
I would rather put in a quart of oil. then change spark plugs on a Ford.
I own a Ford and a Chevy fwiw

Using 2 qts or losing 2 qts? If it's losing...I'd be looking for the drip marks where you park...might be a rear main seal that's gone bad.

Still sucks though.

I was a service advisor then manager at GM dealer for years until two years ago. There is a simple fix for most of those oil consumption issues on the 5.3. A baffle in the drivers side valve cover needs a small modification. I saw it fix alot of smoking trucks.

It can be hilarious to read.

Brand whores are probably the best entertainment on here.

So y'all please carry on
