I mean I dog on em as much as anybody, but some people seriously in their minds think one brand is vastly superior to all others in all aspects.

Economics says they are very wrong

If you happen to be familiar with the dealers
Service Manager go talk to him/her. They can goodwill the repair and if they won't the repair is really simple and shouldn't be that expensive.

I traded my 07 Chevy in for a Toyota on New Year's Eve. It had 165k miles and started using at least an extra quart between changes towards the end. I never did anything to the truck other than normal maintenance, so I can't complain.

It was paid off and I got 10k on trade-in for it when I was going to be happy to get 6k for it.

I am in the same boat with the same truck now. Where did you trade yours in? I am looking at Toyotas as well, and I was thinking I might be able to get 8K for mine.

I was in New Orleans for work and stopped into Toyota of New Orleans and ended up buying it there. I had looked at Lakeside the week before, but they offered me 8500. I never made it to Northshore Toyota.

My dads 08 Z71 silverado did the same thing. It burned a ton of oil.

He got about 20k at trade in (around 60k on the clock) and bought a 2012 silverado. 0 problems since then

Piece of crap-07 GMC Z71

I feel your pain. I just traded in a 2008 Chevy 2500HD Z71 with the duramax diesel. It kept eating glow plugs, I had to get the oil pan resealed, changed out passenger side power locks. When i traded it in I had another glow plug out, drivers side power lock was out and all the speakers except the tweeters quit working on the radio
This truck only had 60,000 miles on it when i traded. Here's hoping my new super duty will give me better service.

GMC knows about the problem and sent out notices to dealerships, but they didn't contact me

I had a similar experience with my 2004. Cracked Castech heads at 90,000 miles. GM had sent out service bulletins telling mechanics about the heads made specifically by Castech were cracking. I call GM and they say nothing we can do it's out of warranty. Will never buy another GM product in my life.
